Carlos was finishing up the last call of his shift which just happened to be an armed robbery. The owner of a convenience store had called 911 about a black man with a gun robbing his store. Carlos knew the store owner, it was his favorite convenience store, and knew this was not racism but a real robbery. He ended up in a foot pursuit with the suspect and he felt like something wasn't right. His suspicions were right when the guy turned around and he saw it was TK's ex-husband. Carlos looked between Alex and the gun while tapping his own gun in thought, a first responders habit. He calculated the risk of getting shot by the clearly deranged man or disarming him in time for no one to die and Alex to be arrested.

The cop took the risk and went for the other man's gun and ended up getting it away from him. Alex slammed Carlos's head against the brick wall of the building which made his head spin. One thing that the cop didn't know was that his radio was busted on the wall and no backup was coming for Carlos. They both ended up wrestling for Carlos's gun and Alex ended up shooting the cop in the gut and fled. The Texan tried to use his radio but found it busted.

"Damn it!" He then pulled out his phone and called 911.

"911 what's your emergency?" He sighed in relief when he heard his best friend Grace's voice.

"Grace, thank God it's you. It's Carlos. I have an officer down. I need an RA unit. Gunshot wound to the abdomen and it's bleeding pretty bad. My radio's busted so this is all I can do."

"Okay and where are you and this other officer at?" He knew that it was just her hoping that Carlos wasn't calling 911 for himself and he couldn't hurt her so Carlos pretended it was for someone else. "We're in an alley between a convenience store and a restaurant on 3rd and Lamar. I think he's gonna die Grace. Please hurry." He spoke about thinking "the other guy" was gonna die but he was actually talking about himself. He couldn't help wondering if this is how gunshot victims feel right before they die. He wasn't in any kind of pain and he couldn't feel the wound at all. The next thing he knew everything had gone black and his eyes closed.
