The Second Move

Amanda had found out that Carlos had dated a guy who moved to New York 2 days after they broke up. She knew there was a chance that her boyfriend wouldn't help her but she called him anyway.

"Hey, I know you're probably mad at me but I need your help with something." She knew she would have to come up with a lie if she wanted his help. "I'm not helping you get information about TK's boyfriend." She was shocked that he caught on that quick but she still slightly lied.

"It's not about him I promise. I'm looking into Alex's past, just to see if anything was missed."

"Alright, what's the guy's name?"

"I just need you to actually get the guy's name. I'll send you the picture of him that I found on social media." He told her that his name was Antonio Flores. She had no idea that he was looking at his file, which showed that he was connected to Carlos not Alex. Dominic was disappointed that she lied to him but wasn't surprised. Amanda went to the guy's house to look for him when she saw his car pull into the driveway. "I'm sorry, are you Antonio Flores?"

"Depends on who's asking?"

"I'm detective Amanda Rollins. I'm wanting to know about your relationship with Carlos Reyes."

"Why? Did something happen to him?" She could see the genuine fear in his eyes which confused her. "No, he isn't dead or anything like that. I'm curious about who he was as a partner. I'm wanting to make sure that my best friend didn't go from one bad guy to another, you know?"

"Yeah I get that. Carlos had always been a great person and an even better boyfriend. He loved to take care of anyone he could in any way he could. If I'm being honest, your best friend couldn't have found someone better." When Antonio told her that she got extremely confused. "Then why did you move thousands of miles away from where you grew up 2 days after you and him broke up?" It was the only piece of that puzzle that was bugging her.

"Because I grew up with Carlos. Austin held too many memories of us for me to be able to handle back then. Hell, I don't think I could even handle it now, 5 years later."

"My question is, was he abusive or manipulative in any way while you guys were dating?"

"Oh god no. He could never hurt someone he loved. Not on purpose." Amanda had one last question that she needed to ask him. "If you guys had such an amazing relationship, then why did you break up?" When she asked that she could see the sadness in Antonio's eyes.

"Not all couples are meant to be. Me and him were one of them that weren't." She left there with more questions than answers about who Carlos really was. She chose to take a risk that she didn't want to take before. She accessed Carlos's file and was shocked by what she saw. She had no idea that he was married in highschool. She then realized that she couldn't use that because they got divorced a little over 1 year ago. Carlos was cuddling with TK when his Captain had called him to let him know that someone had accessed his file. "What? Do you know who sir?"

"A detective from the NYPD."

"Thank you for letting me know sir." He had a slight suspicion of who it was but had to be sure. "Babe, where does your friend from New York work?"

"Which one?"

"The one that told me to break up with you."

"She's a detective in the NYPD. Why?"

"I think she just accessed my personal file." He was surprised that TK wasn't shocked when he said that. He was about to ask him about it, he was asleep. Carlos admired his sleeping boyfriend for about 20 minutes before he chose to take the opportunity to take care of TK. He first changed the bandages on TK's hands gently to not wake him up. Then he made food for TK, Cody, and himself for when TK and Cody woke up. He made grilled cheese and tomato soup. After he got done cooking he started silently cleaning.

After he was done with everything he went into Cody's room to check on him and accidentally woke him up. He started rocking Cody softly to get him back to sleep but felt like he was being watched. TK was leaning against the doorway silently admiring Carlos taking care of Cody. He once again found his mind wandering to the idea of Carlos as a father someday. He chose to once again bring the topic up. Along with a topic that he has wanted to bring up for about a week."You know if we do expand our family someday, we're going to have to find a bigger place. Maybe we could look for one together." Carlos turned towards TK with an adorable confused look on his face.

"What are you trying to say?"

"I'm trying to say that I want to move in with you. Also that I'm pregnant." He almost asked if Carlos gave himself whiplash from how fast he turned his head towards TK. "And I'm one hundred percent sure that it's your baby Carlos." He blinked and Cody was back in his crib and Carlos was hugging him tightly out of joy.

"Woah, gentle baby gentle." TK heard Carlos let out the most adorable laugh. About 3 weeks later they were moving into a 4 bedroom house downtown. The first thing they brought in was the stuff for Cody along with Cody himself and everything for their future kid. The next thing to come in was kitchen supplies. Then it was furniture, and then boxes of clothes and other things. And the last things to come in were TK's pull-up bar and exercise bike. They then went to Home Depot to get the stuff to paint the house and build a pool. When they got back they both collapsed onto the couch from exhaustion. TK and Carlos shared lazy but wide smiles and held hands gently. They both pulled themselves up from the couch and headed to their bedroom to lay down.
