I am not little anymore - ii

Abhi is pacing to and fro in the dining room. He is waiting for Akshara. She had been gone to Anaira's room for half an hour. His patience is waning. He is giving her 10 more minutes, then he will barge into Anaira's room to talk to her.

He stops his pacing when he feels his wife's presence. It's been 17 years since they got married and 18 to know her still he can feel her presence. People said love vanished between the couple after marriage. But it is not their case. Their love deepened more after their marriage. Marriage is an unbreakable bond that both of them cherish so much.

"Akshu, tumne baat kri Aanu se. She is okay na. Mujhse naraz toh nhi hai woh kyuki maine use danta", babbled Abhi.

"Abhi shant ho jao baba. Saans lo", said Akshara. She took him to the dining room and poured a glass of water for him.

"Have it", said Akshara while handing him the water. Abhi gulped the water in a second. He didn't know he was this parched before.

"Now, sit down and listen to me carefully", said Akshara and sat down on the table. She held his hands in hers and intertwined their fingers together.

"Akshu everything okay na. Aanu theek toh hai na? School mai koi use pareshan toh nhi kr rha na?" asked Abhi instantly.

"Abhi breathe, baby. Sab theek hai. Aanu ko koi school mai pareshan nhi kr rha hai. Maine baat kri use", said Akshara calmly.

"Toh phir kya hua hai use. Woh itne dino se itna moody kyu behave kr rhi hai. Har baat ka ulta jawab de rhi hai. Aaj toh usne khana bhi nhi khaya", said Abhi.

"Abhi I know woh aisa kyu feel kr rhi hai. She had just started her period", said Akshara hurriedly. She ripped the band-aid off instantly. No need to stretch the topic.

"Kya. How's this possible? She is just 10", said Abhi disbelievingly.

"Abhi I had also started my period when I was 10. So, Aanu also got at it at this stage", said Akshara.

"But Akshu she is so small", whispered Abhi.

"Abhi you are a doctor. Tumhe pta hai ki girls ki yeh hi age hoti hai in sabki", said Akshara.

"Akshu, tumhe kaise pta Aanu ko woh start ho gye", said Abhi quietly.

"Abhi tum doctor ho. You have studied about this aur tum itna shy feel kroge toh Aanu ko kaise sambhaloge", said Akshara. 

"Akshu stop saying that. Right now, I am a father only not a doctor", said Abhi.

"Okay, papa Birla I get it. Now, listen to me carefully. Aanu had just started her period. She is behaving like this due to her PMS. Aaj usne khana isiliye nhi khaya because she feels bloated", said Akshara.

"Akshu woh kitni choti hai. Tumhe toh pta hai na woh kitni sensitive hai. Isme toh kitna pain, kitne cramps hote hai. Meri princess in sab se kaise deal kregi", said Abhi worriedly.

"Abhi woh duniya ki pehli ladki nhi hai jise periods ho rhe hai. Har ladki ko hote hai. Jaise woh deal krti hai waise hi Aanu bhi deal kr legi", said Akshara tiredly. She is getting tired of explaining her husband now.

"Akshu mujhe baki sabke bare mai nhi pta mujhe sirf apni beti ki tension ho rhi hai", said Abhi. He got up and started pacing again. His hands were in his hair.

"Abhi stop moving. You are giving me a headache. Your princess will not always remain small. Use kabhi na kabhi toh bade hona hi hai. Aaj uske periods start huye hai, kl ko uski shadi hogi, parso bache honge woh humesha toh choti nhi reh sakti na", said Akshara.

"Akshu, what are you saying? Chup ho jao. My daughter is not going anywhere. Woh humesha mere pass rahegi", said Abhi petulantly.

"Papa Birla, please get out of your delusional world. You have to accept the truth", said Akshara. She patted his back and went out of the room giving her husband some alone time to deal with his emotions. 

After pacing for 10 minutes Abhi marched to his daughter's room. He knocked on her door to see her being engrossed in the TV show. "Princess can I come in", asked Abhi politely.

"Yes, papa aiye na", said Anaira. She closed the TV to talk to her father. 

"I am sorry papa, I have talked rudely with you today. And I am also sorry ki maine aaj dinner nhi kiya. I don't want to eat that yucky vegetable", said Anaira slowly. She hadn't looked at her father till now. She feels shy, she doesn't know why.

"It's ok princess. Come here", said Abhi. He pats his lap and urges her to sit on his lap. Anaira hesitantly sits on his lap. She still hasn't looked at him.

"Princess, look at me. Aap papa se kyu shy feel kr rhe ho", asked Abhi.

"I don't know, papa", whispered Anaira. Abhi puts his fingers under her chin and forces her to look up.

"Aanu, apko papa se kabhi shy hone ki zaroorat nhi hai. I know that you have started your umm mensuration but iska matlab yeh nhi hai ki you will feel shy from me", said Abhi.

"Papa, you know about my umm periods", asked Anaira.

"Yes, baby I know mumma ne bataya mujhe", said Abhi.

"Papa, you are not angry with me na", asked Anaira scaredly.

"Why will I be angry with you", asked Abhi.

"Because I am not a little girl anymore. I am a woman now. I know you always wanted me to be your little girl and I am sorry I can't be", said Anaira quietly.

"Aanu, it's true princess. I always wanted you to be my little girl. Pr betu yeh baat bhi utni hi sach hai ki we can't control it. Betu, I want you to know one thing, even if you are 80 years old you would be my little girl. Always remember that", said Abhi. Anaira laughed at his statement.

"Papa aap bhi na", said Anaira in the fits of laughter. Abhi laughed along with his princess.

"It's a truth princess. Aap humesha hi papa ki little princess rahogi. Kuch bhi ho jaye", said Abhi.

"You are right papa. Mumma ne bhi yhi kha tha", said Anaira. Abhi kissed on the top of her head.

"Papa apko pta hai mumma ne bataya ki we women have superpowers.  We are like superwomen", said Anaira proudly.

"Yes, mumma is right. All the women are superwomen", said Abhi happily.

"But papa mumma ne ek cheez nhi batayi. You know what", said Anaira.

"What, princess", asked Abhi curiously.

"We are superwomen only because we have you. You are our superhero", replied Anaira. Abhi's breath stuck.

"You think I am your superhero", asked Abhi. Anaira nodded her head.

 "Aap sabki care krte ho, humara itna dhyan rakhte ho. We are happy only because of you. Agar aap nhi hote toh we cannot be the superwomen. Thank you, for being our superhero", replied Anaira cutely.

"I love you so much bacha", said Abhi and pulled her in his embrace tightly.

"I love you too superhero", said Anaira. Akshara had happy tears in her eyes. She is looking from the entrance at the father-daughter bond. She didn't get it in her childhood, but her daughter surely received it. She leaves them in their own world to spend some precious time together.
