Merideth's Perspective

English ended and I walked out. I kept my music plugged in but changed it to Day 'N' Nite by Kid Cudi (Crookers Remix)-Nightcore. I went to my and got my books for science. I adjusted my skateboard and closed the locker. I went up a flight of stairs to my next period. 

I walked in and started the song over again. I sat down and waited for everybody to come in and sit down. Scott walked in along with Stiles. They sat on either side of me and looked at me. I got up and moved to the top corner of the desks. I put my backpack between my feet and waited again.

~Time skip~

School ended and I put my books in my locker. I grabbed my skateboard and walked out the door. 

"Hey Hunter what happened after you left?" Stiles walked up to me.

I stayed silent and just kept walking down the stairs. I realized I forgot my Mustang here yesterday so I pulled out my keys and unlocked it. I got in and put my board on the floorboard of the passenger seat and my backpack on the passenger seat. I pulled my phone out of my sweatshirt pocket and connected it to the Bluetooth. 

I turned the same song back on turned my radio up loud. I started the engine and rolled down my windows. I put it in drive and took off towards the Pet Clinic. I had got a job there and they said that I had to come in this afternoon. 

I arrived and rolled up my windows. I disconnected my phone and shut off the engine.

Hey Dad, I'm going to be home later then usual I got a job at the Pet Clinic. ~Love Merideth.

Okay. Drive safely. ~Dad

I got out of my Mustang and put my phone in my butt pocket. I walked into the clinic and went to desk.  

"Hello you must be Merideth." A dark skinned boy.

"Please call me Hunter." He opened the swinging door and gestured for me to come in. 

"Deaton." He stuck out his hand.

"Nice to meet you Deaton." I shook his hand.

"Okay so first I want you to watch my best worker at duty." He said and led me to the surgery room. 

Scott was applying a cast to a dogs front paw. 

"So what is my first task?" I asked.

"You'll feed the cats and then go feed the dogs." He said and left to the reception desk. I found the cat food and went into the room with the cats. I poured a half a dish for every cat. I put the cat food back and grabbed the dog food. I went and poured half a dish for every dog. I set the dog food down went over to Deaton. 

"Next task?" 

"You and Scott will be working a shift which goes until 8 is that okay with you?"

"Yea that's fine." I said and Scott walked out the surgery room.

"This fella's all done." He said and looked down at the dog.

"What's Hunter doing here Deaton?" He asked and looked at me.

"She's a new worker. You and her are going to work a late shift together tonight. It's until 8." Deaton said.

"Okay." 

"Well I'm going home you guys go ahead and start that late shift." Deaton gathered his things and walked out the door. 

I kneeled down to the dog and he whimpered.

"He's frightened." Scott said.

"I know. I can calm him."

I looked the dog in the eye and I felt a friendly connection between us. He rubbed his head up against my hands and stepped closer.

"He's so cute."
