"and why would you say that..?" Evelyn asked, "it just— no, you won't understand" Jay reply almost immediately. "how could people understand when you didn't talk about it, Park Jay" Evelyn utter with a firm voice making Jay kinda taken back as it's his first time seeing the older act firmly rather than softly. Evelyn calm herself down before she stand from her seat and walk towards the unconscious girl.
"you're asking me why I desperately want to saved her.." Jay spoke as he stand on the other side of the bed, staring at the unconscious girl. "It's because she reminds me of..." Jay try to get the name out but it's stuck in the back of his throat. "Hyewon" Evelyn utter making the latter look at the older before looking away. "right, you've been reading.. those" Jay mumble under his breath.
"of course, but, that doesn't mean I deeply trust those. Reporters do shit most of the time" Evelyn reply. Jay about to say something but stop as the unconscious girl moves making the two look at each other. The girl groans and writh around, panicking but with her eyes closed making Evelyn hold her hand to keep them in place, "Jay, call the doctor" Evelyn instructed which the guy follow immediately.
Jay arrives with a doctor by his side but his step stop as he see Evelyn successfully control the young girl before they arrives, he came in to the scene where the girl is crying in Evelyn embrace while the older try to calm her down. "hey, Iris.." the doctor calls as he slowly approach the younger, joining Evelyn in making sure the teenager feel safe and secured,
"deep breath, Iris.."

"there.. do you want me to help with it?" Evelyn utter as she serve early dinner for the younger but she reply by shaking her head making Evelyn nod in understanding before walking towards Jay. "I'm off to the cafe, do you want anything?" Evelyn asked which the guy reply by shaking his head, "alright, watch her for me" The older utter before walking out of the room as she smile towards the teenage girl. Jay and Iris exchange a short glance before she look down to her food and continue fiddling it around with the spoon.
Jay take a deep breath before he walk closer to the younger, sitting beside her bed. "hey.. Iris, right?" Jay utter, trying to ease the tension in the room which the younger understand and nod, "Iris Eleanor Jake..." her reply act like a struck of lightning to Jay's heart as he heard a name that he hasn't heard for months but he try to shrug it off by nodding.
"how old are you..?" Jay asked, "sixteen..." Iris answered which make Jay's heart skip another beat as Iris is on the same age as Hyewon. "so.. why?" Jay asked softly as he lean back to his chair which makes the younger stop stirring her food.
"I.. I don't know.. It's just too much"
"it's too much to be alive.."
"i'm so selfish aren't I?"
Iris utter and a tear fall from her left eyes as she turn to the guy. Jay has heard those words before, a lot of times, and it hurts him to hear it again even though it came from a complete stranger. "No, you're not selfish at all, Iris.. No one knows exactly how you feel, it's not selfish when you aren't even thinking about yourself when you do it" Jay reply which make the younger break down.
Jay unconsciously move his hand and caress the top of Iris head softly, just like what he always did to Hyewon if she cry when she miss her mother or Sunghoon. "let me tell you a story.." Jay utter as he ruffle the girl hair making her look at him as she slowly calms down, "there's one guy.. he lost everyone he have and loves and he gave up.. he gave up on living. But.. he then realize that, he don't actually want to give up as he realize there are people that are willing to walk with him through the broken bridge until they all reach the flower path" Jay continue.
"All you need to do is to build your trust again even though it hurts you so bad.. And if you need a company, I can spare some time" Jay add as he let out a small smile while caressing the younger head, holding back his own tears as he can't help but see himself in the girl.
