Yoongi leaned against the kitchen island and said, "You can take that one."
Obviously, if Jungkook had the choice, he'd opt for not going back there. But letting three serial killers know how much it affected him was not something he wanted to do today.
And so he shrugged and said, "Fine."
"Two of us can go look at the first sight. The other two go to the... location of the bombing," Namjoon said, sliding tentative glances at Jungkook.
Jungkook nearly rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, okay," Suki hopped off the barstool and quickly retreated into her room. Jungkook watched her disappear behind the threshold of her bedroom—and hated the way he wondered what the inside might've looked like. "Let's go as soon as possible. To bide time," she said from within her room.
"I have a job, you know. I can't just disappear," Jungkook called out to her.
"You already have, Detective. A few more hours won't kill you." Suki emerged from her room, zipping up a black hoodie over her body.
"How are we splitting up?" Namjoon wondered. He glanced at Jungkook. "I can go with the cop," he offered, only because he knew that Yoongi and Suki were the craziest of the three, and would hesitate a lot less when it came to killing him.
But Jungkook stood and shook his head. "No. No way." He grabbed Suki's arm and pulled her towards him. She fell against his side, stumbling on her feet. "She's with me."
"Why?" Namjoon asked, puzzlement coating his face.
"I don't trust you two."
Yoongi raised a curious brow. "Yeah? And you trust her?"
Jungkook held in a sigh. "It's complicated," he gritted out.
Suki was the lesser of three evils. Beyond whatever monster she was, Jungkook knew she secretly had a heart. That she had a morsel of humanity wedge within her. Somewhere. Somewhere deep. Very deep.
