STHOKOZILE

It is 6am and she has been awake for an hour. From preparing the kids for school, and sorting her things out for work. It's her daily routine, she has to make sure that her children are sorted before dropping them off at school. She finishes packing their lunches and calls them out. She has two girl children, who are aged seven and eight.

They come running to her, she gives them their bags and reminds them that they need to hurry. She was already late for work, and dropping the kids at school would only delay her. She taps her watch and goes to her bedroom. She finds her husband,Ronnie, sleeping and even snoring. She shakes him vigorously. He wakes up yawning, even uglier than the previous night.

Ronnie:What is it, Sthoko? Why are you waking me up?

Sthoko:Can you take the kids to school? I'm late and they will give me another warning at work if I pitch up late.

Ronnie sits up straight and clicks his tongue.

Ronnie:You are the man of this house, aren't you? So you will manage to take the girls to school and go to work.

He grabs the duvet and covers himself, going back to sleep. She sighs and decides against starting an argument. Ronnie is just not worth it. He never wants to do anything in the house. Ever since he lost his job, he has been a mess!

They have been married for 10 years, and have two beautiful girls together. She was once in love with him, he used to be her world. But now, he's just her nightmare. Their home is no longer warm.

She goes back to her kitchen and clutches her handbag under her armpits.
"Let's go," She instructs the girls and off they go. She drops them at school and rushes to take a taxi to work.
The taxi comes to a halt when she asks to get off. She looks at her watch and she is 10 minutes late. She only hopes no one sees her. She fixes herself and prepares to go in, but another car comes speeding towards a pond and splashes water all over her. She gasps infuriated and shows a middle finger to the driver.

She tried to wipe herself but it was useless. She opts to head inside, not before coming across with her supervisor. Not now. Today must be her day of bad luck.
Her supervisor shakes her head in disappointment and tells her to clean herself up, and then start working. She sighs relieved, that at least she is not in trouble.

Her feet  are swollen, she can't even get up. She never knew that pregnancy can make one to be this lazy. She is in her 8th month, and she can't wait to meet her baby boy. She hopes he looks like her. She relaxes on the couch, watching television. Her mother, MaMkhize comes into the room and she removes her feet from the couch. Sitting appropriately.

MaMkhize:Nothando, I need to talk to you.

She knows  what this is about. It's about her pregnancy.

Nothando:Yes ma?

MaMkhize:Your father is very angry Notha, he wants to chase you out of the house.

Her heart skips a beat. Her father can't do that to her.

MaMkhize:You are still young, Nothando. We had bright dreams of you. Who is the father of your baby?

Just thinking about the father makes her want to vomit. It's someone she wishes never to see again. They had a hook up and unfortunately for her, she fell pregnant. She tried contacting him, to tell him about the pregnancy. But can you believe it? The guy denied it, and told her that what they had meant nothing. Of course, it meant nothing. It was a one night stand.
