One fine afternoon where the sun shined on top of everyone's heads, a boy was the brightest of them all. This boy loved adventure and adored every second of life. He thanked every moment that happened to him and everyone loved his positivity.
Kuni, however, was the dark storm cloud that caused a ruckus around everyone around him. No one mingled with him because of his negativity and he walked like shrivelled Sakura blossoms as if giving bad luck to people's lives.
Could it be possible for these two different people to be friends? Of course... somehow?
Kuni was walking home in the muddy rain, hiding his tears from his mum after a long day of school. He came back and knocked on the door. It all depended on luck if mother would let the door open for him, after all, Kuni was never given the rights to live under a parent's house who pays bills and does the most to keep the house theirs.
"Where were you, you skipped dinner?" A tall women with a cane got Kuni slipping on the wet mud and onto his feet.
"Mom..." Kuni whimpered, a hand raised to cover any hits.
"Don't 'mom,' me. Why did I even let you be free in the first place. You know Scara, you could be r@ped or kidnapped and I don't even care, because you take my past care for you for granted so why do you think I should let you in?"Kuni's eyes started tearing up in fear, sulking after hearing what mom said. "I had a rough day," he managed to muffle out.
"A rough day is what I go through everyday. Look at you, you're so small and weak. Why should I let you come in for dinner if you CAN'T even come back home on time?!" mother's voice shouted and Scara couldn't control his tears anymore. He choked on his tears, helping himself to not make any disgusting sounds for mom to hear, but his tears weren't invisible. There he felt a hard wack throw him metres away from the front door and his swollen eyes couldn't bare to see. He felt dizzy, mother hadn't packed any lunch on his day to school and he felt weak. The only person Kuni could ever thank was the boy who offered that one sandwich during lunch, and that's all he ate.
Later, he hung around the beach and slept under a beach house until morning. (T^T)----
"Hey Kuni!" a young boy with high spirits ran towards Kuni as he entered the school gate. The boy had opened arms and embraced into Kuni, making the dark storm cloud feel the warmth of the sun. "You arrived to school pretty late today," the young boy commented.
"Late?" Kuni questioned. How was he late? He always arrived this early to school all the time
"Yeah, you arrived at 7:40 am yesterday and today you arrived at 7:46. How come?" The young boy checked his watch.
"I had to tie my shoelaces," Kuni averted his gaze, it was an obvious lie.
"Huh, your face. Your skin looks a bit discoloured on this side," The young boy pointed out, "mind if i touch it?"
Kuni didn't answer, but his head didn't turn away. The young boy gently placed a hand on Kuni's shoulder and led his other hand to Kuni's face, "don't worry, I won't hurt you, I'll just take a look." The people around the Sakura boy noticed his hands on someone and stared as if he was going to perform a miracle. He brushed a thumb over Kuni's dark spot, and Kuni winced, accidentally slapping a hand off of the ray of sunshine, and the warm sun got covered by cold clouds as the crowd of people left. "Oh, I guess it did hurt... Kuni."
"It's nothing, I just fell over during the rain yesterday," Kuni grabbed the young boy's hand that he slapped away and gave it a squeeze, as if to give an apology, but it looked like an awkward hand holding.
"It's alright, I understand," the young boy intertwined fingers with Kuni's making Kuni feel a bit warm. He caught eyes with the cute bear keychain on the boy's backpack and he grew warmer.
"Y-you do?" Kuni drew close to the young boy.
"Yeah, I do!" The young boy nodded, "that same scar happened to my mum and it came from my dad, so I guess I have brief knowledge of what you're going through Kuni."
Kuni felt weird, he had never felt such comfort of having someone understand him after all his time of living with someone who made him feel misunderstood. "Look Kuni, you can come to my house after school if you'd like. Dad is out, so my mum will take care of the both of us," the young boy spoke with the mood brightening.
"O-ok..."
----
The young boy came home to his house being burnt in flames. "MOM!" he ran inside, only seeing his father, smoking in the room with a fireplace.
"So, you decided to be a son and show up in front of your father?" the man in the fire works threw his cigarette away and looked over at his son.
"Mom... where is she?" the young boy's words stuttered, but the father didn't answer, "SHOW ME WHERE SHE IS!" the young boy ran up to his father, his tears rolling down, full of fear and desperation.
"I decided to teach her a very important lesson about respecting me. I don't suppose I have to teach you the same way I taught her..." The father's voice lowered, sounding evil and the young boy couldn't imagine what the father would've done to his own wife.
----
Kuni's footsteps skipped a beat, he has never felt his world spinning around happiness for the first time in his life. Something about that young boy that he made friends with really made him feel way more special to him than a friend, but as he walked closer to the boy's suburb, he was tripped over by a tall man in heavy uniform. Kuni fell to the floor and looked up to see a man in a firefighter's uniform. "Sorry about that, lad," he looked back at Kuni and continued running. Sirens were loud and painful to the ears and the sound seemed to be traveling towards the boy's house.
Kuni was confused, but curious. He ran towards the sound of yelling and sirens, people shouting for civilians to evacuate and arrived at the boy's house. The house was on fire as wood clashed to the floor. The objects burnt and smelled like a disease to Kuni's lungs. "Oh no!" Kuni cursed under his breath, bringing his shirt to his nose and running to the house. He crawled under the planks and swerved passed the hot areas.
"Excuse me, this is a dangerous area," a firefighter held him by the shoulders before he could reach the house. Kuni shook off the firefighter's hand and continued to crawl towards the front door of the house. "SIR, IT'S TOO DANGER-" the firefighter tripped and fell into the lump of burning planks with a yelp, the fire swarmed through the fire suit and the firefighter started to burn.
Kuni watched back at the firefighter before entering the house. "Piece of shit," he took the shirt off his nose. Kuni ducked through the door, looking for the boy. He didn't want to assume that he was dead. He crawled, room after room and each of them were burnt and collapsing. Kuni saw by the side of his eye a bear keychain that squeaked, rolling along the floor from a room. Kuni scurried to it, and found where the bear keychain rolled from.
"Papa!" A scream was heard from a room and Kuni saw the boy being held by the neck of a tall man holding fireworks.
Kuni watched, shocked. He froze, not knowing what to do. He wanted to bring his friend down from that terrible man, but he couldn't move. The bear keychain clutched in his fist and tears started to roll down his face.
Why... why can't i move...?
The man's fingers slowly let go of the boy's neck and Kuni knew he had to fight, "WAIT!" His reaction was too late and the boy was thrown into a fire place with the fireworks, "SUNNY NOO!!" The fireworks immediately set off, one flying towards Kuni and it hit him in the stomach, grazing the side of it and he got thrown away with a groan. Sound of sirens fogged and his vision blurred. He shut his eyes as the room around him bursted in flames.
A: Happy new year everyone ^^ Hope you've enjoyed
