"What will you be doing this summer?" Lisa asked me as I grabbed my bike.

"I dunno," I said shrugging. We had just gotten out of school yesterday, and next year we would be seniors. I was very excited, but then nervous about what would come after our senior year. We would be going into the adult world.

I thought for a moment about summer before getting onto my bike. "Probably just hanging out at home."

"So you're gonna forget about me?" Lisa said grinning.

"Why would I forget about the only friend I have," I said as we rode our bikes to my house.

Lisa smiled. "I know who you will be hanging out with this summer. Albert."

I blushed. "Probably," I muttered.

Albert was my boyfriend. He was sweet and kind, and the only person who knew about my past besides Lisa. He understands me. We have been together for five months.

And counting! I thought.

Lisa sighed. "I remember the first day you two met. All clumsy and not yourself around each other. I shipped it the second I saw you two side by side."

I rolled my eyes. "Alright! You made a good ship for once."

Lisa stopped her bike in front of her house. "For once? I've made plenty good ships in the past."

I smiled and shook my head. "Well bye!"

She waved as I rode away. I loved riding my bike rather then driving a car, because I could feel the wind breezing through my brown hair. What a nice feeling.

I stopped in front of my house, and got off my bike. Lily, my little sister, came running up to me.

"Maddy! Maddy!" I scooped her up in my arms.

"Well hello to you too."

She giggled and wriggled out of my arms. "I have been bored all day! Come on, I heard that Frozen was coming on later, and I need someone to watch it with me!"

I chuckled. "I didn't know seven year olds got bored. And I have stuff to do, so you will have to sing Let It Go without me."

"Please?" Lily smiled one of her signature smiles at me, one I could never resist. She was so cute with her little freckles, exactly like the ones I had when I was younger, and her brown hair.

"Fine," I said walking inside the house.

Lily smiled and hopped up the stairs. I went into the kitchen.

"Hello, Krisy," I said waving.

She looked up from peeling potatoes. "Oh, hello Maddy."

Krisy was the one who took me and my sister in after, well, after my parents died. I didn't like talking about it. And I didn't tell it to everyone. We were sort of like orphans, because our stupid grandparents were ashamed of us. And then Krisy found us, while we were playing at the park. She asked us where our parents or guardians were, and I told her that we sort of lived on the streets. I was a freshmen at the time, and Lily was about four.

Krisy called the police about us, and they told her that we didn't run away, our parents were dead. She then took us in, and we have been living life with her ever since. She told us that she was only married for about a month, then her and her husband got a divorce because she couldn't have kids. She had been on her own for many years, so when she found us, she said it was like hitting the lottery.
