An Odd Couple

Chapter 2

"Wake up!! you are going to be late for school!!!" exclaimed my sister.

We've moved into this new town and today is the day I am joining my new school,in the 9th grade. "I don't wanna go"- I screamed and sunk further inside my sheets. " What's the matter?  you can't be sleeping at this time dad is going to be late for work and he has to drop you before " came my mother. "Okay..." I reluctantly say and get up. This new place is not very nice and moreover I miss my friends terribly. Not that I can't make new ones, I am a totally outgoing person so no issues with that. More than everyone I miss Sean- we knew each other since kindergarten and well, I kinda developed a crush on him lately. But then we had to move,and yeah,those people are left behind.

I walk towards my closet and there hangs my uniform,this school is highly disciplined and what sucks the most is that you don't have things like prom here. My parents thought it'll be a nice influence so I am going there. " Yuck!! this place sucks!" I mumble to myself.

"So?  exited to meet new people?" asks my dad as we pull out of the school. "sure,you bet" I couldn't control the sarcasm in my voice ."C'mon honey,you'll be fine,go have fun"-  says dad. "Yeah I will,bye! and please be on time to pick me up". " Okay!!!"and he drove away.

A hoard of people with the same grey uniform are entering into the gates of the Central High( made co-ed since1976) which is sort of freaking me out. I mean I am not one of those girls who wear makeup,know how to act in front of the guys. It's not that I am gonna scratch my underarms in front of them or anything but you know what I mean. I've been boyish my entire life- I don't own dresses,hair curlers or makeup.

"okay,you can do this" I say to myself and enter the gates.

" Meet your new friend- Crystal Jones " says the teacher. I can already see the popular lot laughing."How are you feeling? exited?" - " Umm,ye...yeah sure,very happy to meet you all" I fake a smile. I go and take my seat next to a girl with a welcoming smile." Hey,I am Kelly" - "Hi!", I reply.

So the whole morning drags on and its the lunch hour when we speak again." I'll tell you about the class" says Kelly-" they ,are the freaks- you don't wanna talk with them because they think you are not of their category" I see her pointing to a group of people. the girl who was laughing before :caught me staring and says something to a boy and the whole group starts laughing.

"Ignore them,believe me they are crazy"- I nod.

" and all the other people are very nice,you'll have a great time " . " Is this true that you don't have prom in this school? "- I asked. " Yeah,you see last time they did a dance thing they caught a drunk couple doing funny stuff,and so it's banned and we have have educational trips instead ". " wow,this school is crazy " I say.

I look around and see a group of guys and gals waiting for Kelly,anticipation on their faces. "They are my friends, C'mon,you are a part of us now." beams Kelly at me." Thanks for that. I am glad" I say.

so the following days are filled with fun and I am quite comfortable now, my school isn't great but not bad either, this town is good- with a shopping mall, pizzeria, and all the things a youngster needs.Time has flown,we've entered the senior year and I kinda have a crush on this guy called Josh Horan. Josh is very popular, he is the captain of the school basketball team and very good looking. I bet half the females like him.Moreover he is charming, the way he speaks to you makes you feel quite nice. Kelly saw me eyeing him once and asked-"you too? ". " What you too?" I try to act all cool. " I saw you staring Josh ". Lying wasn't an option so I admitted" Yeah,well,he is kinda nice". " You won't get him like that,he is so popular and we are the normal herd of this school ". " I know,whatever " I say. but Kelly is totally determined to help me out. " Maybe we can ask his best friend to help- there" she points to a boy with dark eyes,an amazing smile, slight tanned body and a little wavy hair-"Matt Aiden ". I wonder why I never noticed him before.
