An Odd Couple

Iam not afraid!

Sitting in the car my brain kept wondering as to what am I gonna do if he decides to kill me,but why would he?
"Umm,care to explain where are we going?" - I asked slowly avoiding looking into his eyes.
"You'll know Crissy, wait for a while!"
Wow,now I dont even know where I am going,that too with a guy I've known only for like two weeks or so and it drives me crazy when people don't tell me things I ask! Heck!!!

As we kept on going,I just looked outside the window to calm my inner storm. The autumn leaves, turning red looked so pretty but at the same time brought the indication of a chilly winter ahead. And I started thinking about how pretty site it will be- children playing around,making snow man and skiing and all of that. But then the thoughts of homeless people also cross my mind, the people who will be without food and shelter, for them winter brings nothing but grimness and sorrow.
Well,the two sides of a coin,the irony of life.

I come out of my thoughts as we stop near a very old looking mansion. I thank God,no waterfalls and all of that.
The big banner reads
"God's children orphanage"
He parked the car along the entrance and said-
"Every year today I come here to celebrate with these kids,and I thought you'd like this surprise"
"Wow,that's so so awesome I mean you took me by surprise! Just one thing though,why today? What's so special?"
His face turned a little red and he said - " today is my mom's birthday "
Oh well,I should've guessed it!
"That's amazing! Can't wait to go in"- I said all cheerfully.
" So then lets go!"- he said grabbing the keys.

Matt had got so many gifts for the kids,and he was very well known there,because as soon as we entered we heard a lot of people calling him. He just smiled and waved. I didn't know what to do and so I did the same.

The staff was so friendly and nice. They took us to the kids,and we all interacted. Kids danced,sang,and made us do that as well.

"Where is Rebecca?" - I heard him ask someone
They started discussing something in very low voices and I didn't listen much. So all I could do was follow him .

They passed a few doors and stopped near a small room's entrance.
I also walked in, and the site shook me.
Matt was talking to a girl who seemed to have lost a leg,an accident probably. She was laughing and looked so pretty and all I did was stare at her.
She saw me and gave a confused look. Matt turned to his gaze and said -" oh Rebecca, meet my friend Crystal ".
Rebecca gave me a cold smile and turned to Matt again. I couldn't really understand what's up,besides I wasn't making much of the conversation so I walked out of the room.

Matt came after about 10 minutes while I was busy telling a story to the kids. A kid of about three years of age came to me and asked
" Does god love me?"
"Ofcouce he does! He loves all of us!"- I replied.
" Then why I don't have mommy daddy?"
I thought for a while and answered
"because he loves you so much more that instead of parents he gave you a bigger family with so many friends,so that you will always be happy!!!".
The child seemed to be convinced with my explanation and smiled at me.
" Iam Bruce,will you be my girlfriend? "
Me and all the others in the room laughed so hard.
"Aww Bruce,can I say no to such a handsome young man?" - I said chuckling.
"So you are my girlfriend now! Can I sit on your lap?"- he asked.
" yea,you can!!"- I said pulling him into a hug.

After a while they lit up the fairy lights and the whole room was filled with beautiful ,soft lights. I didn't notice when Bruce slept in my lap. The other kids had also gone for dinner and the staff were serving dinner. Me and Matt with Bruce sat and watched the lights.
"Thank you,this was the best and the sweetest surprise ever given to me"- I said.
" Iam glad you liked it.I've always felt a connection with these kids,since I've been deprived of the love"- he said smiling,but there was hurt in his voice.
"No,that's so not true,your mom loved you,and she loves you still,just that she can't express it to you "- I tried convincing him.
" Crystal, I don't wanna talk about it,just chuck it"- he sighed.
Bruce stirred and opened his eyes.
"Hi! Slept good?"- I asked him tucking a lock of his hair.
" I want food"
"Yes,it's dinner time! Go!" - I said and he got up.
"Bye girlfriend" he said kissing my left cheek and then right cheek. I kissed his forehead and bid him a farewell.
''Let's go home " I said after he went .

The drive was nice,chilly winter and moon was round and clear. The way through the canopy of dense trees always scared me yet today it felt as if they are welcoming me with their arms wide open.
He stopped in front of my house.
"Hey,we reached"- he said
" huh? Oh"- i said looking out.
"Seeya! Goodnight!" I said walking inside the house.
"Where did you go?" - asked my sister as I entered the house.
"To an orphanage, it was heart touching. A cute kid asked me to be his girlfriend" I said and everyone laughed.
"You should totally go and visit this place,ya know" I said.
After the dinner I checked my phone,Kelly had called.
"Hey! Where on earth were you?" She answered on the second ring.
" orphanage, Matt took me there,it was wonderful" I told her.
"Did you forget that we made him our friend only because you wanted to date Josh? What are you doing? Josh doesn't even know you yet!"- she gave me a reality check with this.
" ah,whatever I will see,goodnight" - i hung up.
And I realized that she was right,that it all started because I wanted Josh, and now it doesn't even matter to me,I can't understand when that happened.
The realization hit me,hard like a rock, I didn't want Josh anymore.
It was nothing but a childish thing to me now.
Hell, what's going on with me??
