Verity, Mei and Nick sang their heart out to Melanie Martinez which played on her speaker in her kitchen as they decorated cupcakes, took the pizzas out of the oven, set all the mini snacks into a mix bowl, ect.
"Dude no that- HA-" Verity laughed hysterically as he dropped his whole cupcake into the sprinkles, leaving his thick orange frosting everywhere.
(THE CUPCAKE FROSTING U DIRTY FUCK)
As Mei and Verity helped Nick clean up his sleeves, all of them still giggling, a knock at the front door echoed over the music.
Mei and Nick looked at Verity before she said "My mom will get that" She laughed.
They continued scrubbing Nicks sleeves in the sink from the orange frosting. The music switched from Melanie Martinez to The Weeknd.
They sang their hearts out to "Die For You" except the one with Ariana Grande.
Once the orange frosting got off of Nicks sleeves, Mei took him up to Verity's room to get him a new hoodie while his one dried.
Verity chuckled as they walked up the stairs, trying her hardest to get the frosting that was left in the sprinkles.
She felt a presence watching her as she hummed along to "House of Balloons / Glass Table Girls". She looked up to the door frame that led from the front hall to the kitchen.
Chris stood leaning on the door frame, propping himself back onto his feet as Verity caught him watching. "Thought I'd come early" He smirked as Verity looked visibly un-amused.
"You never get enough of me don't you" Verity said coldly as the lyrics: "But you belong to me, ooh, you belong to me."played.
Verity just had remembered this was her and Chris's song from when they dated. She shook that thought off of her mind and looked at him.
Chris was amused by her little comment and walked over next to her, their shoulders almost touching.
Chris noticed that Verity was visibly trying her hardest to hide her blushing by this. He smirked. "Where's Nick and Mei?" He changed the subject.
"Im sure you've been here long enough to know." Verity dryly responded, moving away to put more sprinkles in the bowl.
Chris grabbed her wrist but she was strong enough to shake it off. Chris scoffed before leaning backwards on the counter. "Come on Santiago,"
Mei and Nick walked down the stairs, the song ending. "Why are you here" Nick said, emphasising the "you".
"Vers mom let me in." Chris looked at Verity, smirking as she glared back. Mei and Nick both smiled at each other as if talking through eye contact.
"Were gonna take these upstairs, take your time." Mei stifled her giggled as she took as much snacks as she could with Nick.
They chuckled discreetly to themselves as they were shuffling up the stairs.
Verity looked at them, smiling. Her smile faded again once she heard Chris's voice again.
"Cmon can't you just drop the act?" Verity frowned, dumbfounded.
"There is no fucking act, Chris." Yes there was. Verity still loved Chris. She still had all of the pictures of them that used to be on her wall in her drawers.
Her and Chris both knew she had a hard time dealing with change.
"If you say so, sweetheart."
God the way he made saying that sound so smooth. The fact that they were enemies but him saying that made her fall in love with him all over again.
She was so glad he stood behind her so he couldn't see her blush furiously.
"Shut up." She said through the smile Chris couldn't see.
Chris subtly smiled back, looking to the stairs just outside the opening in the wall which was the living room. He stepped away from Verity, his smile fading.
He couldn't love someone who didn't love him back. He just couldn't.
Ariana Grande played on the speaker as Nick and Mei came back. Verity smiled again, seeing them sing the words like they didn't care about anything in the world.
She hummed along with them as Chris stood, smiling at his ex girlfriends gorgeous smile.
"Chris your staring again." Nick mumbled loud enough for Chris to hear while the girls danced and sang. "You have to tell her soon."
"I will just-" Chris sighed softly "She doesn't like me back."
Nick bit the inside of his cheek, deciding to tell Chris about Verity's feelings for him or not.4
"Always worth the risk... for her right?"
"...right."
