I had never before thought that a week could last for an eternity.

Actually, scratch that. English class on the Friday was an eternity masquerading as an hour. It was only the first class of the day. I wanted to sob.

Ever since Lloyd told me about the date he had planned, I'd been impatiently waiting for Friday to roll around. The week dragged on, long and slow. But the entirety of that long, slow week felt like it could fit into this one English lesson.
Beside me, Naomi subtly groaned in annoyance at the task we'd been given - deciphering a poem. Pointless notes and doodles sat between the stanzas on the print out sheet. Green eyes stared back at me from the page.

"Does this make any sense to you?" Naomi whispered, leaning closer to me.
"Uh. I think the oni dude fell in love with her?" I asked, shrugging. Naomi aah'd before scrawling down some more words on her own paper.
My gaze kept jumping to the clock, watching the hands slowly tick by. The pace was agonising. I wanted to rip out my hair. Somebody, please have mercy on me.

Finally, finally, the next class rolled around. Psychology. It was just as long.
"Is it just me, or is today going by super slowly?" I grumbled while Lloyd pulled me down onto his lap as we sat at one of the the benches in the field during morning break. We were making most of the warm, clear days before winter stole them from us once more. Lloyd hummed in frustrated agreement as he dug his face into my neck. He wrapped his arms around me, arms firm. Seems I wasn't getting out of his hold until the bell rang.
"It's normal for me," Nya shrugged as she plucked buttercups from the grass and stuck them in Jay's curly hair.
"It's probably just because you guys have your date tonight," Kai reasoned as he sprawled on his side before sending Lloyd a smug smirk. "Or because of something else."
I perked up, glancing at Kai before turning my head back against Lloyd's chest to stare at the bottom of his chin. He laughed dryly, squinting his green eyes at the fire master.

"Thanks, Kai," Lloyd said blandly.
"Is this about the surprise?" I asked and he tensed, arms tightening. "Can you just tell me already? I'm dying to know, Lloyd! Dying! You don't want me to die, do you?"
He set me with an unimpressed gaze, smiling down at me.
"Jury's still out," he teased and I gasped.
"Don't worry, Y/n!" Jay piped up from where he was playing on his switch, kneeling on the grass. "You'll love it! Or hate it. Who knows."
"Jay!" Kai kicked the lightning master in the arm and he toppled over, buttercups flying. "C'mon, man. Lloyd's fragile."
"Fragile? I am not fragile!" Lloyd barked.
"A little," Zane inputted, squeezing his fingers close. "Truthfully."
Lloyd looked astoundingly insulted by his team. My mind was still stuck on the whole surprise thing so I clapped my hands over his temples and tilted his head back down to me. I stole his attention.

"Tell me the surprise?" I pleaded, using my best puppy-eyes.
"Then it wouldn't be a surprise," Lloyd reasoned.
"Please?"
Lloyd quickly dug his fingers into my sides and I lurched with a loud laugh, falling away from him.
"No," he said with a grin as I rolled onto the ground.
"Dirty move, Lloyd," I huffed, grass tickling my cheek. It smelt like him, but not as nice. Lloyd put the rest of the world to shame in comparison.
"You'll find out soon," Lloyd promised with a chuckle, amused by my expression.
I harrumphed, dropping my face onto the grass with a pout.

The day only seemed to drag by slower.

"If you're going to be this distracted, I think I'm going to get a different partner for our trust fall exercises."

I blinked, coming to. Glancing back at Chen, I suddenly remembered where I was - a.p.e class, trust falls. Right.
Not sure how trust falls count as advanced physical education, but I'll take it.
"Shoot, sorry, Chen," I sighed, slapping my forehead to wake myself up more. "I'm away with the fairies today."
"What's with you today?" Chen asked as we set up to do one of the given exercises. Nya and Zane were on the other side of the gym, an efficient team. "You're so distracted. Usually you're kicking my ass in gym."
"I have a date with Lloyd tonight," I said with a grunt as I fell back into Chen's arms. "And he said last Sunday that he had a surprise for me. I do not like the anticipation side of surprises."
I rightened, pulling myself up. We turned, swapping jobs, and Chen fell back into me.
