Wait for me: Chapter One

Maya's POV

New year. Same people. Different feelings...

It was the beggining of junior year. Me and my best friend Riley were walking down the school hall. We reached our lockers which were next to each other.
"This is going to be the best year ever" said excitedly the brown eyed girl as we were taking our books.
"Ya know, you say that every year" I teased her.
"Yeah, but this year is going to be different. I can feel it" She said smiling.

We entered the big classroom and took our seats. There weren't many people yet which made sense because it was pretty early. We waved to Sarah and Darby. They were talking about something but I didn't really hear what.

I looked at Riley who seemed to be waiting for somebody. I knew who it was and that fact didn't make me really happy.
"He's gonna come, Riley" I tried comforting her but it didn't work.
"Yeah, I know. It's just that I haven't seen him in month. What if his feelings have changed?" The beautiful long haired girl was now looking at me. Gosh, those eyes.
"I'm sure they haven't. He was away just one month. You have nothing to worry about!" I said sure in my words.
"I guess you're right" was all that Riley said.

After a few minutes the bell rang and more students started coming. Lucas and Farkle entered the room and came to us.
"Hey, guys" said my best friend smiling widely.

"Hey, babe" Lucas bent down and gave Riley a peck on the lips.

I didn't like it. I didn't like the feeling I get when they interacted or she talked about him. I always got that burning feeling in my chest whenever they kissed or hugged... And no it wasn't the 'oh, get a room' feeling. It was deeper and stronger.

I went back to reallity and heard Farkle's voice.
"Ladies" he said flirty.
"Farkle" Me and Riley answered automatically.
Yep, we were 11th grade and still doing that. He was telling us about what he's been doing this summer while we waited for the teacher to come.

Mr. Matthews (aka Riley's father) came and we started the lesson. He askes us how our summer has been and everyone had to write a paper about a favourite moment.

After that we all went to the cafeteria. Me, Riley, Lucas and Farkle sat together.
"So how was in Texas, Lucas?" Asked my best friend.
"It was great. I saw a lot of old friends and relatives."
"Aww, you saw you old friends! How are they doing in the stable?" I could, I had to do it.
Ranger Rick laughed. "I missed you too, Maya. "
After a moment of silence Riley and Lucas continued the talk.
"Well, we had a great time too." Said the brown eyed girl. "Me and Maya hung out all the time."
I nodded. To be honest that one month was the best. It was just the two of us and nobody else. We got to do so many things and we became even closer. And I though that was impossible.

"I'm glad you two had a wonderful time but now it's gonna be some 'me and you' time"
Lucas put his hand on Riley's. Damn, he was a player.
"What about you, Farkle?" I tried changing the subject. "How was 'Science camp'?"
"It was awesome! I got to do so many experiences" he answered excitedly.
"I am happy for you" I said.

I looked at Riley and Lucas who were in their own world. They were holding hands. Here is the feeling again. I think I'm gonna be sick. I stood up.
" It was a blast talking to you but I think I'm gonna go now."
"What? Why?" Riley asked worried.
"I don't feel good. I'm going to the nurse" I said.
"Do you want me to come with you?" My best friend really cared.

" No need. Stay with your boyfriend."
She didn't say anything else. Heck, the last part wasn't needed.

I went to the nurse and she said that everything was normal but if I didn't feel good I could go home. I wanted to. I could't stand seeing Riley and Lucas together being all cute and cozy but I had to. I could't miss the first day of school.

After the last class I just wanted to go home and be alone but I heard the soft voice of my friend calling my name. I turned and saw her almost tripping while she was running to catch me.
"Hey" Riley said, breathing heavly.
"Hey" I answered.
"Is everything okay? " The long haired girl asked.
"Yeah. Do you want to walk me home?" I asked because I had no problem to be just with her.
"Actually I can't. Lucas want me to help him with something. But I will see you later, right?"
"Don't you have a date?"
"What?" Riley asked confused maybe because of my angry voice.
"Doesn't matter. I got to go. Byee."
I needed some time to figure out why I was acting like that.
It did took me long but
I did.
