Maya's POV

It was one of those rainy days. Finally Saturday. The first week passed which meant that now we were week closer to summer. It was a weird week. A lot of things happened like realizing I have feeling for my best friend.

I had no idea what to do with these 'feelings' what's so ever. I had no chance with her and telling her would had probably ruined our friendship. I just had to keep it to myself and wait for them to go away. But there was just one problem. They were getting stronger with every minute.

I've always thought I was into boys. I never expected to like girls but there I was thinking about Riley.

I mean my first real crush was a boy who was also part of Riley's family. Uncle Josh. Last year we had a talk to clear things up. He said that he adores me but he couldn't just wait for me and I totally understood him. We both agreed to stay friends and see what future brings us. Even after that everyone thought that I still liked him.

I was sitting on my bed with a cup of hot chocolate and rereading my favourite book. That was my plan for today: A relaxing day. Well, it was ruined when my phone rang. It was Riley. I answered and heard her soft voice.

R: Hey, peaches.
STOP RILEY MATTHEWS. STOP IT.
Me: Hey. Sup?
R: I was wondering if you would like to come to 'Topanga's'? We're having a potry reading. A lot of people from school will come.

Do I wanted to go? Do I wanted to be with her around people with the possibility to do something stuped? Do I wanted my feelings to get stronger?

Me: Sure.
R: Great. It's starts after 30 minutes.
Me: I'll be there.
R: See ya.

Why the heck did I do that? Stuped, stuped me!

We were now in 'Topanga's'. There were a lot of people from school. I was talking to Darby when Lucas came in. Riley reached him, put her hands on his hips and they kissed. Everyone was like "awww" and I was like "ewww".

After that everyone started reading poems. Ones were good and others not that much. I heard someones voice talking to me.
"So do you have a poem?" Riley asked quietly.
"Nope. Do you?
"Well I tried writing but it turned out horribly."
"I'm sure it's not that bad." I comforted her.
"Thank you." She gave a smile.
"So what did you write about?" I asked.
"Umm" She was about to answer when her eyes turnes and saw Lucas going to the 'stage' "We'll finish the talk later."
"Yeah." I answered knowing that we're never gonna finish it.

I think about you every time when I'm awake.
I dream about you every time when I'm asleep.
I want to see you and kiss you again. To hold you in my arms and never let you go away.
I want to be the one you love so please give my heart another chance.

Everyone applauded him. He got off stage and came to Riley.

"It was amazing." She gave him a quick peck on the cheeck. "Who was it about?" The tall girl asked.
"I think you already know." He smirked. "I wrote it while I was away in Texas."
"Awww" Riley looked all lovey and smiley.
"I thought about you every night. I missed you so much."

I was kind of confused. He thought about her a lot yet he didn't do anything to reach out. She was worried all the time. I couldn't help it.

"Did you?" I asked playing raising my left eyebrow.
Lucas looked at me confused.
"Umm, yeah. Why?"
"Well, maybe because..." I stopped for a second and looked at Riley. I cought her eyes looking at mine. She knew this wasn't going to be any good but she wasn't about to do anything.
Riley wanted to see what happens.

"Well, maybe because I was here for Riley all month. You didn't call her once." My voice raised and now everyone could've heard us. "She texted you like hundred times but never got a text back. She called you but you never answered. Riley even thought that it was over. That you hated her and she had done something wrong. And then you come here and pretend that nothing happened. That's so damn unfair!"

Lucas didn't have any words. He just stared at me like he had never met me before. Everyone was looking. I was already up so it was easier for me to get out of that place. I ran out but it was still raining. Damn it, I forgot my umbrella and jacket inside.

"Maya." I heard her voice coming from the behind. It was soft yet a little pitched.
"Yes?" I turned around but didn't look at her. I couldn't.
"Maya, look at me!" Her voice was now serious.
I raised my head and cought her eyes. She didn't seem mad or sad. Just puzzled.

"What the hell was that about?" She asked.
"It was about you and how you don't deserve to be lied to."
"I'm a big girl, Maya. I could handle things by myself."
"Sure you do! That's why you let him lie to you!" I reaised my voice again.
"You don't even know if he's lying." So did she.
"Oh, now you're protecting him?"
"I'm just saying that you don't know anything. Maybe he had a hard time there and something bad happened. You don't know!"
"Neither do you!"
"Why do you even care about our relationship so much, Maya?"

"Because I freaking care about you, Riley!"
