Riley's POV

"Because I freaking care about you"
This kept running trough my brain. Or actually it was Maya that kept running trough my brain. I thought about what she said but it wasn't that important for me. It was important that she stood up for me when I didn't know that I needed to. That made me love her even more and I thought it was impossible.

-

I was in my room smiling about what my best friend said to me yesterday while I was preparing to go out. Not with her though. With my boyfriend.

I put a purple top with stripes on it and my favourite black skinny jeans. For accessories I put a pink chocer and a longer locket to finish. My frienship ring was already on my finger. Like always. Now I was ready to go.

I walked to the livingroom where my parents were. My father looked at me suprised.

"Are you going out, honey?" He asked.
"Yep. With Lucas." I answered.
"It's still raining outside. Where are ya going?" My mum asked.
"Lucas is taking me to this new coffie house. Well, actually we're taking the subway."
"Good have fun." She smiled.
"Yeah, not too much fun tho. I want you home by ten." Dad said seriuosly.
"Ten? How about eleven?" I asked trying to make a deal.
"Ten thrity. Final offer."
"Deal." We shook hands.

-

Me and Lucas were entering the coffie house. I looked around and it didn't seem so bad. Not bad at all. It had that 'hippie' style which made me feel even more cosier.

We made it to our table and sat down. Through the whole we ride to here we didn't talk or made eye contact and it wasn't more different now. Usually we always used to make these little talks first about the weather and then rush into big talks about things that are important to us. It was never quiet. We weren't use to that which made things even more akward now. I finally broke the silence.

"A great place, huh?" I smiled akwardly checking the place again.
"Yeah, I knew you would like it." He said proudly.
"Well, I love it. How many times have you been here?"
"Just once. When I saw it, it automaticly reminded me of you."
"Aww that's very sweet." I turned red.

After like an hour of talking Lucas finally brouth it up. I knew he would I just hoped he wouldn't.

"So is Maya okay?" He asked after a little laugh about a story.
"I guess. She hasn't answered my texts and I don't wanna bother her." I said trying to convinse myself from asking him the 'question'.
"She was really mad yesterday." He added making the cutest face you could ever see. Ughh, why did he have to be so freaking adorable?
"Yeah, but she had a point though." I pointed out knowing that I had to ask.
Lucas looked down. I could feel the guiltiness from a mile away. And that's what made me sad, that he was feeling guilty.
"Come on. Say it" Lucas kinda gave up.

"Why didn't you text me, Lucas? Or answered my calls? I was beyond worried about you."

Lucas wasn't looking at me. I hated that. He wasn't trying to think of excuse or a lie. He wasn't that kind of guy who would lie to somebody right in his face and that's what I respected in him so much. His honesty.

"Lucas, I need answers." My face was serious but soft at the same time. I didn't want him to feel pressured.
"Honestly, I do two." The boy said not expecting me to understand. He said that to himself not to me.
But I did. I did understood him. He needed some time and I was going to give it to him because that's what good people do, right? They wait.

"Look. You need some time to think and I respect that so call me when you're ready to talk." I gave him a shy smile as a 'goodbye' and so did he.

-

I was now in home. In my confy and cosy bed aka my favourite place on earth. I was doing some homework when I heard someone knocking on my window. I turned around to see the beautiful blonde haired girl at the other side of the glass. I opened her.

"Hey" Maya said entering my room. She was all wet.
"God, why are you so wet?" I said handing her a towel.
"See sweety, it's raining outside and the rain is water so when people touch it they get wet." She was talking to me like I was a three-year-old.
"Haha, very funny." I teased her back."But no though. What are you doing here? Is there something wrong?" I asked conserned.
"You tell me." My best friend said like she excpected me to understand.
"What?"
"I don't know, alright. It might sound a lil bit crazy but I just felt like I needed to be here. Like you needed me."
"That's amazing." I said excitedly. "Because I do need you."

I went closer to her and put my head on her shoulder. A little later she finished the hug by putting her arm around me. It was our hug. I felt so safe and profected with her. We stayed like that for a quite some time when she broke the moment. I felt her shyness while doing that.

"So tell me what's going on." My best friend said.
"I went out with Lucas today and I asked him the 'question'."
"And?"
"And he didn't say anything. Like he didn't know what or how to say it."
"Ringer Rick has more secrets. Now that's something interesting." She said trying to buzz the situation.
"I could feel the guiltiness. He had done something wrong, Maya."
"You don't think he had an affair, do you?" It was like she could read my mind.
"That's what you were trying to tell me this whole time, isn't it?" I asked staring at one point.

The older girl didn't answer.

"Did you give him time?" She asked.
"Yeah. He wasn't going to answer anyway so what was the point of pressuring him."
"Good." Maya said but I could see that it wasn't 'good' for her.

"Look, whatever happens I am here, okay? You can always count on me." She said like these were her last words.
"I know. And I am beyond grateful for that." I took her hand and I had no idea why. Maya pulled it away and I could feel her being uncomfortable.

"You wanna do something?" I asked trying to avoid the akwardness.
"I don't know. Maybe watch a movie?" She suggested.
"Great. How about "Kick Ass"?" I said knowing that she loves that movie.
"Riles, you're suprising me. I though you're gonna want something more 'romantic'." Maya said covering the word with her fingers.
"Actually right now I would die to kick some butt."
"Ya go girl!" She cheered up.

-

The movie ended and Maya changed her position from 'laying on bed' to 'sitting on bed'.
"God, I love this movie." She pointed out.
'I know you do." I said quietly and just smiled.

Maya looked at her phone and said that it's time for her to go. I agreed and offered her to walk her home but she didn't want to. The older girl was just about to leave when I stopped her.
"Maya." I said and she faced me.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you."
"For what?" She said confused.
"For everything. My life is so much better because of having you in it."
