Riley's POV

The next day Maya and I didn't talk to each other. I didn't try to. The intersting thing was that she still came to pick me up at seven and sat with me at lunch. We had looked at each other a few times but it was mostly me staring at the blonde girl.

It was after school on Friday. I was sitting on a bench outside school writhing something in my notebook. I heard a voice from behind and then saw Farkle looking at me concerned. He sat next to me. Yesterday I asked him not to leave Maya alone so we didn't have time to talk.

"Are you okay?" He asked.
"Yeah, is Maya okay?"
"Maya's doing fine."
"Good." I said smiling to myself.
"Riley, you have to talk to her." The ginger added.
"What could I say, Farkle?"
"For start 'sorry'." He said pointing at something.

I followed the direction of his finger to see Maya. I heard his voice whispering "Do it." I stoot up and went to her.

"Maya..." She faced me and I was about to continue when the 'mean girl' Rachel Robbins interrupted me.
"Maya, are you coming to the party tonight?" The straight - haired girl asked.
"I sure am." My friend answered.
"What party?" I asked confused because from what I heard it wasn't a new thing.
"Oh" Rachel said giving me a 'sorry, but you're not cool enough to be invited' look "A friend of mine is having a party and I am the one taking care for the people. You don't know him." She added.
"Does Maya know him?" I asked.
"Yeah." The tall girl answered instead of my friend.
"Oh, okay. I was just curious." I said and everyone nodded.
"You wanna come?" Rachel broke the awkward silence and handed me an invitation.
"I don't think it's necessary." Maya finally spoke up.
"I would love to." I answered ignoring what Maya said.
"Great." She faked a smile and went away.

Maya and I were alone now. Well, if you ignore the thousands of students surrounding us. We didn't say anything. I could just feel those baby blue eyes staring at my soul.

"I don't think it's a good idea for you to come. It's not a place for you." Maya broke the silence.
"What? Why?" I asked confused.
"Riley, there's going to be alcohol and a lot of drunk guys."
"I can handle a bunch of drunk guys, Maya. I am not thirteen anymore."
"I know but some of them don't take 'no' as an answer."
"Why is it that I can't go and you can?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"I've been to parties like this before and you haven't. I know you and you're not gonna like it there."
"Well, maybe I will." I said irritatedly.

I could read in Maya's eyes sadness and frustration. She couldn't fight me.

"Okay." She said silently.
"Okay." I answered.

-

I was walking to the building the party was supposed to be in. Outside it looked like an old, nasty hause no one would live in but when I entered it was different. There were a lot of people and loud music. I looked around to see if I know anyone and I saw Darby and Sarah dancing. I went to them and we greeted.

"I didn't know you were invited." The curly girl said.
"I wasn't till today." We had to kind of scream to hear each other.
"Well, we are glad you came." Darby smiled."The drinks are over there." She pointed.
"Okay." I wasn't planning on drinking any alcohol but I do was tristhy.
"Oh and I think I saw Maya somewhere here." Sarah added looking around.
"Yeah, I'll find her thanks."

I went to the bar with drink and everything and saw Rachel.

"Hi." I said.
"Oh, hi." The tall girl answered. "You came." She said suprised.
"Yes and I must say it's really cool here."
"So you like it?"
"Um, yeah. Why?"
"It's nothing. Okay, have fun." Rachel said and got out of this conversention as soon as possible. Why did I have the feeling that she didn't like?
