Riley's POV
"Questions. We ask ourself questions every day. Wheter suped and meanless ones or some which can change the world." My English teacher Mr. Tommas said. I loved his classes.
"I want to know what questions you ask yourselves everyday." He looked around the room to pick a student.
"Maya." Mr. Tommas said loudly and she jumped on her seat.
"Yeah?" She asked obviously not paying attention.
"A question that crosses your mind every day."
"Does true love exist?" Maya said without even thinking.
"What do you think?" He answered asking.
"I don't know. That's why is a question... Do you know, sir?""I do, Maya. But I'm not telling you. You're going to find out yourself."
-
We were walking to our next class and I cought up Maya.
"It does." I said.
"What?" She asked confused.
"True love. It exist, Maya"
"Why are you so sure?"
"I just am."
"Okay, if you're so sure what does true love mean?" The blonde girl asked not really wanting an answer.I tried to think of an answer. I never really thought of that. Did I know? My boyfriend kept things from me and possibly had an affair with another girl. What did true love mean?
"Exactly" Maya said nodding.
-
"So did you talk with Lucas?" The blonde haired girl asked as she was entering my room though the window.
"Nope. He didn't say anything. And I..."
"You don't wanna pressure him, I get it." She said without leaving me finish my sentence. "But Riles, sooner or later he gotta come to you. You can't just wait forever."
"Yeah, I know. If he doesn't say anything till tomorrow I'll talk to him."
"I just don't want you to get hurt." The older girl quietly said with a soft and caring voice.
"I know." I smiled and grabbed her hand. "And I am soo beyond glad that I have you."I expected her to say something sweet in return or to hug me but she didn't. Maya stepped away and looked at her phone.
"Oh, boy I have to go." My best friend said.
"But it's very early."
"I just remembered that I have to finish my drawing because tomorrow is Wednesday and the exhibition. You'll be there, right?"
"Yeah, of course. Did you remember it out of nowhere?" I asked sounding kind of blamly.
"Yeah, interesting right?" She said awkwardly. "I am sorry." And quickly went out.She was doing it again. After Sunday I thought that everything was alright but there she was running off again. I had to find out what was going on but first I needed to do that with myself.
I had this new weird feeling whenever I was around Maya since the poetry thing. I wasn't paying attention to it till now, till the words I just said to her. Why was I always saying things like that and trying to hug her or hold her hand? I just didn't understand...
-
I was sitting outside the classroom playing "Candy Crush" on my phone. Boy, I loved that game. I heard footsteps and then a familiar voice calling my name.
"Riley." His voice was calm and unsicure.
"Lucas."
"I wanted to talk to you about... You know." He said stepping closer.
"Okay, talk." I said like it was the most normal thing in the world.
"I would like to be in private plus we don't have much..." The bell interrupted him. "Any time. What would you say after school?"
"I'd say okay."We entered the room and everyone looked at us. Most of them knew that we were having a hard time in our relationship. I took my seat and Maya looked at me confused.
"I'll tell you after class." I whispered."Talk" Maya said.
We were infront of our lockers.
"Hello to you too." I answered sarcasticly.
"Yeah, hi. Look sorry about yesterday and how I ran off."
"I'm sorry too."
"About?" She asked confused.
"Never mind."
