My eyes snapped back open. The mobility in my arms tells me that I made it to the fictional world. 'Yes!!' I looked left and right. 'It's clear, I should start a super cool training arc!' I slid off my hospital bed and wobbly stood up.
'Alright, how do I do this?' I put a finger to my chin. 'Since this world is fictional, I should be able to just start doing push-ups and sit-ups.' I nodded to myself. 'I can't wait to get strong!' My face beamed in pure excitement.
I knelt down and struggled to put my palms flat on the floor. 'Ok, push-ups! Here we go!' I steadily bent my elbows and lowered to the floor. The weaker of my hands collapsed from under me, and my body slammed onto the floor. 'Ow! Damnit! When is the timeskip going to happen? I don't actually have to train do I?'
I set up my position again, before running into multiple problems. My feet couldn't grip the floor because they were in casts, my hands and arms weren't strong enough to hold myself up, and I was too tired.
I relaxed back into my bed. 'I'll try again tomorrow, maybe I'll get stronger automatically.' For the first time when going to this world, I tried to skip my time here. 'I think I'm ready to go back. There's nothing to do here!'
I closed my eyes and drifted off to sleep, but...
.
.
.Nothing happened. I opened my eyes back up, only to squint at the light coming in from my window. 'What the...Why am I not back?' My door burst open, with no regard to if I was sleeping or not. 'Only one person is that inconsiderate...'
A loud voice boomed through the room. "SAKURA YOU'RE AWAKE!!" The boy with spiky blonde hair burst through the room. "Oh man, I was super worried you wouldn't be able to participate in the Chunin Exams, I'm not trying to be mean or anything, but those doctors were totally wrong about you not being well for a while! I mean, you're looking pretty- Pretty well! You know, as well as you can when you tear you-"
"Naruto." I cut him off, my tone cold. 'Who does this guy think he is? I barely even have an opening to talk. Ugh... This reminds me of-'
"Yeah, Sakura? What's up?" The Uzumaki looked at me with slight concern, hastily veiled by a big smile. I looked at him, I kept my face blank. 'I hate people with pointless optimism. Why fight what's futile?'
"I can't." The Jinchuriki's smile falters for a second, not that it matters. "What can't you do Sakura?"
"I can't be in the Chunin Exams." The Uzumaki's facade fell. "What are you talking about Sakura? Of course you can be in the Chunin Exams! You're better now!"
I stared him in the eyes. I watched his spirit break under my gaze. "I'm not. Stop pretending you care. I already know." That last part seemed to slip out from a past grudge. My feelings were practically overwhelming me. 'He's not Nathan, Stella, he's not Nathan. He's not Nathan, he's not Nathan, he's not Nathan, he's not Nathan, he's not Nathan, he's not Nathan, he's not Nathan, he's not Nathan, he's not-'
"What are you talking about S----? I don't understand, we can still fix this!"
"Get. Out. Now."
Nathan looked at me with his dumb face, acting like he didn't know. "Huh?"
I quickly stumbled onto my feet and shoved him out the door, shouting with all my might. "GET OUT NOW!"
Naruto scrambled out of the door. 'huh? Naruto? I thought- Shit!' I opened my mouth to call out to him, to apologize, or to say anything really. Right before I could, someone else walked through the door.
