The inspector at the head answered in denial, "Hanguang-jun, you mustn't say such a thing. We wouldn't dare to kill a single person here."

"That's right. We wouldn't dare." Another one said.

"Yes. Yes." The others behind them supported.

"Nobody here dares to kill people?" Wei Wuxian growled.

"Absolutely." The leader said, afraid of retribution. He swore, "As true as fate. No lies at all."

"No lies at all." The others echoed.

"Oh. I understand." Wei Wuxian gritted his teeth, trying to hold back his anger, "It's because they're Wen-dogs, and Wen-dogs aren't people. So even if you killed them, it doesn't count as having killed people. That's what you mean, isn't it?"

This was exactly what the lead inspector was thinking when he said it. With his thoughts read, his complexion paled.

Wei Wuxian gestured at the other three men, saying, "Or do you really think all of us are blind and didn't see what you all just did minutes ago?"

The group felt their scalps tingle and their blood run cold. The head inspector stammered, "The Yunmeng Jiang Sect, Gusu Lan Sect and the Lanling Jin Sect have been getting along with each other..."

Hearing this, Jiang Cheng stepped forward, Zidian crackled in his palm. "You are very courageous. Are you threatening us?"

Lan Xichen narrowed his eyes as well.

"No no no, Sect Leader Jiang, Sect Leader Lan." The inspector immediately shook his head repeatedly. "Of course not. Of course not."

Wei Wuxian stared coldly at the crowd of the inspectors, his glare piercing straight through their souls. "Congratulations to you for successfully draining all my patience. Since you do not want to admit your crime, let's let your victims speak for themselves."

With that said, a sudden chill descended upon the camp as a murderous intent radiated from him. The air felt like it was about to freeze. The fear in the area became even more palpable.

The man was sweating profusely. "Have mercy, please." Every one else did the same as well.

"Wei Ying..." Lan Wangji called out softly, knowing that his husband was furious and liable to lash out any minute now.

"Lan Zhan." Wei Wuxian turned to look at him, he justified, "Those people deserve justice, don't you agree? If they have the guts to kill people, they should have guts to face revenge."

Lan Wangji sighed deeply. He knew what Wei Wuxian said was right. An eye is for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. That's the purest fairness the world can give. He didn't say anything afterwards as he understood Wei Wuxian's desire for justice better than anyone else.

Wei Wuxian glanced at Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen who remained quiet, silently approving of his decision. They too agreed of the sentiment. It is just karma.

Without another word, Wei Wuxian put Chenqing to his lips. The shrill sound of the flute first ripped through the night sky and across the curtains of rain. The first note was sharp and short.

The dead bodies scattered around the camp suddenly raised their heads. And soon, in the area, stood slantingly around a dozen tattered figures, tall and short, men and women.

Wei Wuxian spoke one word at a time, "Whoever caused all of you to be like this, let them meet the same end. I give you the right to do so. Settle everything!"

And the melody of death resounded across the field, echoing in every corner of the camp.

The summoned corpses started going after those who had a hand in their death, chasing them wherever they went and attacking them with fury. Sounds of pained screams and breaking bones were muffled by the heavy rain.
