The next day, they made their way to Lanling along with Jiang Cheng who was looking rather disgruntled and grumpy from seeing the couple acting disgustingly chummy in front of him. They even ignored his demand to stop their PDA conveniently. And because of that, he was utterly relieved when they finally reached Koi Tower, thinking that they would at least behave in public.
As they walked up the stairs, Lan Xichen was already there, talking to Jin Guangyao about something. At the sight of them, Lan Xichen excused himself politely from Jin Guangyao before walking over to them.
"Brother." Lan Wangji greeted as he approached.
"Sect Leader Lan." Wei Wuxian greeted with an awkward little bow before smiling warmly.
Jiang Cheng kept his composure while exchanging pleasantries with Lan Xichen, although his scowl only deepened after he noticed Lan Wangji still has his hand on his martial brother as he watched them with a disapproving look on his face. He apologized to Lan Xichen, "Sect Leader Lan, I apologized on my idiot... I mean... my martial brother's rashness. As the Sect Leader of Yunmeng Jiang, I am deeply ashamed that he did this."
Wei Wuxian nudged him with his elbow, "Hey! How dare you speak bad about me." But his words lacked conviction and had a tinge of amusement that only Jiang Cheng would catch which caused the scowl on his face became even more ugly.
"You don't have to apologize, Sect Leader Jiang." Lan Xichen said, still wearing a smile. "After all, my little brother was rash in his decision too." His eyes flickered at the couple who was standing shoulder to shoulder with Lan Wangji's hand placed firmly on Wei Wuxian's lower back. "The two of you really..." He sighed. He kept his voice low as he spoke, "How could both of you just elope just like that?"
"Our apologies, Brother." Lan Wangji answered, his face remained impassive. Wei Wuxian echoed his apology as well.
Lan Xichen sighed again, "So, would you two mind telling me the reason of this sudden marriage?"
Lan Wangji (shamelessly) declared, "We just love each other."
"Love?" Lan Xichen repeated in disbelief when he heard that word came out from his usually emotionless brother. That was a word that he never expected to come out from the stoic younger sibling of his. He then looked at Wei Wuxian, seemingly wanting a confirmation of some sort.
Wei Wuxian couldn't help but blushed slightly at this, "Ahh... well. It turned out that way." He admitted quietly.
"I see." Lan Xichen breathed out heavily before giving the couple a smile resignedly, "I see. I suppose I should say congratulations on your union. Although, it was a little impulsive, I must say." He didn't miss how his brother's hands tightened almost unconsciously around Wei Wuxian's waist.
"Yeah, we were kind of rushed..." Wei Wuxian mumbled an answer.
Lan Xichen raised his brow, "What were you two rushing for?"
"Well... you know..." Wei Wuxian trailed off awkwardly, glancing sideways at Lan Wangji. "Things."
"...Oh..." Lan Xichen said when he realized what that means, a hint of pink appearing on his cheeks. He cleared his throat. "Right, um... congratulations once more on your marriage then."
"Thank you, Zewu-jun."
"Thank you, Brother." Lan Wangji said, smiling faintly.
Lan Xichen gasped for he had never seen his little brother smiled for ages. Perhaps, their marriage was indeed good for Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian really made him happy. He nodded approvingly to himself before saying, " You two need to return to Cloud Recess with me after this."
