The Last Thing I Did

Chapter 9

Benjamin sat in the Alpha's office when he heard Dakota come in a bit frustrated. "Did the meeting not go well", Benjamin asked him and he looked shocked at Benjamin. "I didn't see you when I came in", Dakota said ,about to sit down. "The Upper Alpha and I got in a discussion, she still doesn't trust my leadership skills", he explained then. Benjamin sat straighter into his chair listening with interest. He knew that Rea was trying to make Dakota see what kind of manipulator he is , he just needs to know where Dakota's loyalties lie. "Why would she question your leadership", Benjamin asked and Dakota went quiet for a few seconds. "She doesn't trust you", Dakota eventually said. "Because of your history with the Wolves bloodline, she's afraid that you'll try and eliminate her as well , which I told her was not going to happen." When the time would be there Dakota will have to choose between Benjamin and Rea and that choice will have a lot of impact on what happens next.

Amy woke up to the cracking of burning wood which made her think she was in Hell. The unbearable pain she had felt before was now gone , but she felt like something had changed within her.It's when she was trying to get up that she noticed that she was chained to the bed she was laying on. When a guy walked in with orange eyes that were glowing she remembered what had happened to her: she was taking a stroll in the woods and then coming across this man. The main thing she remembers are the teeth she saw before everything turned black. "What do you want with me", she asked the guy. He started to take off the chains of her and she looked confused at him. She got a warm feeling in her chest when they locked eyes with each other. "By the orders of Benjamin I had to turn you into a HellWolf and now I'm here to help you to learn how to control your transformation and to keep you out of the hands of Benjamin", he explained to her. "Where's Rea", she asked then. "She's not at our camp, Benjamin would be suspicious if he saw your sister here. If it wasn't for Rea you would be in the hands of him right now, and that's not something you want , trust me", he said and she scoffed. "If it wasn't for Rea I wouldn't be in this position in the first place. I really don't get why the Moongoddess chose her over me. I would accept the role with open hands and not be ungrateful for it like Rea is", she said and Ross looked with raised eyebrows at her. He thought they were always close with each other but that is clearly not the case.

"So is Benjamin really planning on killing Rea", Avery asked then as Ross was showing her around the camp. "I honestly don't know Benjamin's plan , I only know that it's not just Rea's life he's trying to ruin. And I think she is aware of that as well", Ross answered her question. "You do have to remember that you're an outcast now , we HellWolves don't belong anywhere. This is your life now."

After Rea arranged everything for the wedding she went out hunting for the pack. If she wants the packs to survive the winter then she would need about ten deer's to keep the packs fed. Now she's lucky if she can find three. Rea did change the law about that Werewolves only eat the wild life by eating human food again but not many packs did agree with that law. And for a wedding it's tradition to have deer on the menu.

Rea heard a twig snap and she immediately started growling warningly to whoever was out there. She could hear someone's thoughts from the HellWolves pack and feel his emotions which she ruled out as enjoyment. Then Voss stepped forward and Rea sighed in herself. "Why so nervous", he asked her. Rea transformed back and Voss couldn't help but check out her body. "You know that you're not allowed here", she told him. "I'm the contact person between you and Ross", he informed her and Rea looked suspicious at him. Ross didn't like Rea so why would he even bother helping her? "Ross didn't like my plan but I found it best so you can outsmart Benjamin." "I can't trust you", she said then. "We can't trust each other but we have to work together if you want to keep on living", he says and she felt like it was a threat. "I don't have to do anything. It's you that wants my help so you depend on me and not otherwise. So you don't get to give me orders but I do", Rea says raising her voice a bit. "And you can start by covering up your pack symbol."

She introduced Voss as a new pack member which was obviously not true. He got weird looks from the people because of his eye color that looks like those from the HellWolves but they couldn't question the Upper Alpha's decision. Article 6 point 2 says: Those who question the Upper Alpha's decision get executed.

"How's the situation in Dakota's pack", Rea asked Voss as she was quickly looking at a few letters she had gotten. "Well, Dakota certainly is loyal towards Benjamin but his pack members seem to notice that Benjamin isn't to be trusted", Voss informs her. "Doesn't your mother , the Moongoddess help you with the Benjamin situation", he asked her then. "Nope, she just gave birth to me and dropped her burdens on me and I have to figure it out all by myself. In the meantime I have to handle this gift and lead the packs", she says and then notices a letter with the symbol of Hell on it.

To the Upper Alpha of Varcolac,

You've been pretty busy being around the HellWolves camp and I couldn't help but notice that one of the HellWolves is not in the camp anymore, coincidence? Benjamin would kindly remind you that there's no way of outsmarting him and even with Voss by your side that there's no way of winning. I would know Rea, I'm your mother's soulmate and saw her whole life trying to outsmart him and kept failing. She even failed to keep him locked up. Unfortunately you don't have a soulmate which gives you even more less chance of winning.

With that I want you to think about the option of giving your power to Benjamin and help him get to your mother.

Rea's face turned pale for a few seconds and Voss took notice of it. "What's wrong", he asked. "Falk and Benjamin know that you're helping me and they want my power to get revenge on my mother", she explained to him and he looks confused for a few seconds. "Wait , hold up. Falk", he asked her confused and she nodded. "There's no way that Falk is walking free on this earth Rea, trust me there's no way. That's just Benjamin using scare tactics." She gave the letter to Voss and pointed to the symbol. "That's his symbol Voss, he probably escaped out of Hell", she said a bit in panic. "Rea, listen to me. It's impossible. Falk didn't get locked up in Hell after the fight between Deadlive and him. Trust me, he can't escape from the place he got locked up in", Voss says when he sees how heavy she's breathing. "If he isn't locked up in Hell then where did he get locked up?! Hell is the only place right for him", she says trying to control her breathing. "Rea, look at me", Voss says as he's taking her hands to calm her down. "Deadlive couldn't bear feeling the pain every day so she locked him up in an alternate dimension where he keeps reliving his memories", he tells her then and Rea looks in disbelief at him. "How do you know that", she asked. "Because I knew your mother back then", he says then. "I have seen her taking every step towards being the Great Upper Alpha she became. I then died of elderly age but Benjamin was experimenting back then to make a Wolf much like Deadwolves and he succeeded. I have been brought back to life when he made me a HellWolf."
