The Last Thing I Did

Chapter 2

We're a week further and there was a strange atmosphere hanging over the Wolves territory. Shaddix was gone preventing Ross from unleashing something dangerous and still hasn't returned yet. Therefore all the Alpha's and packs are not comfortable without his presence on the territory, except for Greyson who was spreading rumors that the Upper Alpha is dead and soon a new Upper Alpha would be chosen by the Two Moon symbol. Many people believed the rumors and were on the lookout for the symbol. Rea didn't believe the rumors and started looking for him. She refused to believe the rumors and started searching for her father. Her mother Daleyza on the other hand already saw life without him. She refused to look Rea in the eye before she applied the rules of being a 'proper' lady which Rea found ridiculous. She even put her in mother classes which she never attended. At first Rea thought she did it to grieve but then found out that Daleyza didn't care for Shaddix. Their bond also isn't as strong as a real soulmate's bond.

A black wolf with shades of red in its fur is running through the woods across the border from Varcolac anxiously searching for something or rather someone. "You're far from home", a voice sounds. The black wolf noticed a grey wolf running beside her. "I'm searching for the Upper Alpha. I didn't mean to disturb you Alpha Dakota", Rea said. She stops running so she can have a proper conversation with him. "I think you're one of the only people interested in finding the Upper Alpha. The rest seems to be interested in getting the Two Moon symbol", Dakota tells her. Rea chuckles for a brief moment. People think that if they want the symbol so badly that they'll be chosen but that's not how it works. It has to be someone who will bring good things to the world and keep them safe from everything. "Why aren't you searching for him", she asks him then curious. It took him a while before he answered: "I'm just busy handling things in my pack not that it's any of your business." Rea transformed back to her human shape which made her stand completely naked in front of him and that's when he realized he was talking to the daughter of the Upper Alpha. He tries to look away from her but clearly struggles with it. "I'm sorry if I sounded rude to you", he says still finally being able to look away from her naked body into her eyes which gives Rea a playful grin on her face. "It's alright", she says looking around the woods. "What's wrong with your pack", she asked then.

"There's a disease roaming around and everything the pack doctor does isn't helping. At the moment it's taking out all of the women", Dakota says as he's showing her around the hospital. He opens one of the doors that have big red letters written on it: Quarantine zone. When Rea walked in she was in shock at how these women were looking. They looked already dead but somehow still alive and an orange substance was running through their veins. Some women looked a bit like half transformed Werewolves. "Once they are half transformed they die within a day or two", Dakota tells her. Rea suddenly knew why her father was out searching for Ross. "Put them in a coma that will prevent them from half transforming", she advises him.

After her visit to Dakota's pack hospital she ran towards a part of his territory where no one comes anymore: the old vampire territory. That's where Benjamin was building a portal toward Hell right before he was killed. That's when she picked up a faint scent of two people but they're too old to know who it's from. She followed the trail towards what seems like a sort of cave where there is a portal built. 'This is the place", Rea thinks to herself. Once she entered a scent of blood filled her nose. As she walks further into the cave she starts noticing signs of a fight.

"Rea", she hears a familiar voice saying. She turns to her left where her father is sitting on the ground covered in claw marks. She kneels down by him and takes a look at the wounds. "Why aren't you healing", she asked him. "Yellow wolfsbane", he says as he's coughing up black blood. "Benjamin escaped... and he's determined to make your life a living hell Rea. You need to start training your combat skills if he manages to kill you I'd never forgive myself", he says but she's not thinking about that for the moment. She has started to take away his pain so she can get him to a pack doctor. "You need to stop taking away my pain Rea.. the Wolfsbane will stay in your body", Shaddix says getting her hands off of him. "It doesn't hurt", Rea says determined to bring him back alive. He looks at her veins that are having black dots on her veins. "I need to tell you something before it's too late Rea. The moment you're going to find your soulmate you'll notice that you're going to change, get stronger and feel different things. That's because you've got the Deadwolf gene in your system, don't walk away from it but embrace it instead", he says trying to not fall asleep.

Rea has transformed into her Wolfshape and howled to let nearby Wolves know her location. After struggling for a while she got Shaddix on her back and started running towards Dakota's territory. She refused to let him die now she found him.

Rea started to pray to the Moongoddess to let him live long enough so he can have the medical attention he needs. In her heart she knew that it was already lost hope he had already lost too much blood and the Wolfsbane is overflowing his veins. "I don't know if I can live this life without you by my side", she then said. "You can Rea. You are one of Deadlive's daughter , you look so much like her and I'm sure you'll get through life just like Deadlive made it through her difficult life. "Just bond with Daleyza, because times are going to be difficult for you and she will be the only person by your side", he said through mindlink because he's too weak to speak. She was getting tears in her eyes because she knew that this was probably the last conversation she'd be having with him. She then decided to put him back on the ground and transformed into her human shape. "Just don't leave me Shaddix", she said then taking his hand , noticing how he has become. "I'll be in good hands Rea, trust me. Just remember what I told you and what I taught you. I'm proud of you", he says before life leaves his body.
