The Last Thing I Did

Chapter 3

After Rea's father died she carried him back to the Wolves territory where the burial would be. She knew once the rumors would start that the Upper Alpha was dead, chaos would break out. Rea took upon the job of arranging the funeral since her mother didn't seem to be bothered. The day of the funeral was calm in the beginning but then the Alpha's saw a opportunity to take a role of power.

"My condolences to you and your mother for this big loss", Alpha Blake said. Rea knew that he was only talking to her because he wants to be Upper Alpha. "Is there already someone who's going to be in charge?" She turned quite annoyed at him because she's been having this conversation a lot today. "Let me make this as clear as possible: I'll be the one in charge. I don't care that I'm a woman or that you'll try and fight me because Shaddix put it in his testament which you all signed", she speaks to everyone. Everybody looked furious at her but they know that they can't do anything since she is assigned Upper Alpha until someone has the Two Moon symbol. "Next time you should read the paper instead of following it blindly!"

The rules go like this: when the Upper Alpha of Varcolac is dead they need to obey the rules of another Upper Alpha closest to their land until a new Alpha is assigned by the Two Moon symbol.

After the funeral Rea went to a meeting in Clearwater the closest land to them. She is still the Upper Alpha of Varcolac but she can't make people follow the rules that a dead man made. See it like being Co-Alpha.She feared to be undermined by the Upper Alpha named Jeremiah.

The moment she set foot on the Clearwater territory one of Jeremiah's men approached her. "You're not welcome here", he said. She looked with a raised eyebrow at him and tried to pass him which she failed. "You were not invited to this territory", he said then and she sighed annoyed for a second. She couldn't help but think that Jeremiah just wanted her to give up on the role of Upper Alpha. "I am invited by Upper Alpha Jeremiah of the Clearwater territory. There's a meeting here that I need to attend regarding the death of former Upper Alpha Shaddix Wolves", she tells him and he scoffs. "What on earth would Jeremiah need from you", he said with despise. Rea was getting frustrated by his behavior, she understands that men might not like a female taking power but they still need to respect her. Otherwise Rea could act like that towards men who are in power. "You shouldn't have been born in the first place. You are the definition of a mistake", he says then and Rea takes a step closer to him. "I am the daughter of Deadlive Wolves the Upper Alpha who changed the Werewolf world for the better and the Moongoddess. Are you telling me that the Moongoddess made a mistake", she asks him. "No, I would never. I'm telling you that Shaddix made a mistake by giving you the choice of going to mother classes like every woman here needs to", he says and that was it for Rea, she refused to keep being disrespected by him. The urge to not punch him in the face is hard to suppress but she just walks past him but then she hears growling behind her.

The guy who's been disrespecting her has now turned into his wolf shape and tried attacking her. 'You got to be kidding me', Rea thought to herself. Most of the attacks she dodged and sometimes he was able to scratch her which taught Rea that he was not a high level rank of the pack or just a bad fighter. She then ended the fight by pinching him to the ground and using the knife laced with wolfsbane on him. Shaddix taught her to fight like that in case she wasn't able to transform during a fight. "Are you done now", she asked as he transformed back.

"Rea, what has happened here", she then heard Jeremiah's voice. "Your pack member attacked me as I tried to make him clear that I was invited by you", she explains to him. "My excuses for Ian's behavior. But as you know we don't always see a female Werewolf by our border", he says trying to dismiss the fact that she was attacked. "Shall we go to the meeting?"

"As you all know Upper Alpha Shaddix from the Wolves territory has died and his daughter Rea Wolves will for now take over the role of Upper Alpha", Jeremiah tells the Alpha's of his territory. Many of them started arguing among each other about how Rea shouldn't be allowed to and that someone else should take over but Jeremiah dismissed it. "It's a temporary thing everyone! Until someone in Varcolac has gotten the Two Moon symbol."
