The day Rea made the announcement that she has received the Two Moon symbol by the Moongoddess everything became messy. As expected not everyone agreed with the Moongoddess her choice but they can't do anything about it. The packs started to withdraw their ally pact and others moved out of Varcolac. The remaining packs on the Wolves territory are: The Moon pack, Dakota's pack and Blake's pack. All the others decided to leave just because a woman was in power now. Rea worried about a rebellion forming and especially now she lost so many allies if she loses this territory she'll lose her legacy. Everything Deadlive fought for will be lost when a rebellion forms.
"All this wouldn't have happened if I was in charge", Avery tells Rea. "You are a woman as well, at least when I last saw you. They'd react the same just because there's a woman in charge", Rea tells her annoyed. Avery is the younger sister from Rea, she always believed she'd be the one in charge one day and that she would get the Deadwolf gene but that was just a dream, because Rea got all that. At the age of sixteen Avery finished mother classes , found her soulmate and got children just like every woman in Varcolac. She hoped once she achieved that the Moongoddess would bless her with the Two Moon symbol and the gift of being a Deadwolf. "Is there any special reason you're here? I've got work to do", Rea asked her sister as she was reading another letter from a pack that had decided to withdraw the ally pact. "We both know who really should be the Upper Alpha and a Deadwolf. So if you just told the Moongoddess that I'm better qualified maybe she'd change the roles then", Avery said walking into the office. Rea put down the letter and looked annoyed at her sister. "You do know that the Moongoddess assigns the Two Moon symbol to someone who isn't eager for power", Rea made clear. "Just go back home to Maxwell and your kids."
Rea knew that her sister would stay here waiting for the moment that she fails at the job but that wouldn't happen, the Moongoddess would make sure of that.
"How come that you haven't found a soulmate yet", Avery asked then. Rea looked at her a few seconds in the eye before opening another letter. "I don't have time to bond with someone", she simply answered the question. "Or you're afraid", Avery said then. Rea ignored what she said and read the next letter with a familiar symbol.
To the Upper Alpha of the Wolves territory,
Congratulations with your new title! I am sure that your mother is proud of you, stepping into her shoes. I've been noticing that you've been having trouble with your new gift, not just notice but I can feel it. If you'd like I can teach you how to embrace and control your new gift just like I helped your mom.
Your mother's soulmate, Falk
Rea starred in front of her letting the words sink in. 'How did he escape', was her first thought. Deadlive's soulmate : Falk was a Damned Soul in Hell. After trying to kill Deadlive and take over Hell he was locked in the deepest depths of Hell, how would he have escaped? Avery was saying something to Rea but she was too focused on the letter. 'He'd only manage to escape with help of someone', she thought to herself and then remembered that Benjamin was walking around. How would he have known about her new status? Only the Alpha's on her territory know about it for now. And then a light went on in her head.
......
Rea went straight towards the pack hospital when she arrived at Dakota's territory. 'How could he have fallen for Benjamin's stupid act', she thought to herself filled with rage. Benjamin can endanger everything on this territory and even manipulate anyone against her. He's been targeting the Wolves family for centuries and he won't stop until he doesn't have a body to return to.
She knew the way towards Benjamin through his emotions and thought she could feel and hear. She already could hear Dakota approaching ready to tell her that it's not what it looks like but Rea knows that's a lie he'd tell.
"Did you free Falk from Hell", she immediately asked Benjamin when she stormed into his office. He looked confused at Rea but she didn't trust him. He was and still is a master manipulator. He could hide his real thoughts and emotions from a Deadwolf. "Rea Wolves", he said standing up from his chair making a little bow for her. "Answer my question", she said frustrated. "You differ a lot in the looks from your mother but you clearly have gotten her character", he said with a grin on his face. Rea was about to get violent but then thought to herself that I'd be smarter if she stayed calm and tried to read his emotions and search through his thoughts to a gateway to Benjamin's memories. "I'm technically your grandfather. Aren't you glad that you have some family left", he asked her and she looked with a raised eyebrow at him which made him chuckle. It reminded him of her real mother Deadlive. "What a nice grandfather I have! You've been killing the family Wolves for centuries now, should I be grateful for that", she said. "Now answer my question: Have you freed Falk from Hell?!"
"Rea, can we talk for a second", Dakota asked her, trying to pull her out of the room but she pushed him away from her. Benjamin looked with an amused look on his face at her and at this point Rea has had it. She wanted to dig through his brain but then thought it might be smarter to not show him she got the Deadwolf gene. "Why do you think I've freed Falk", Benjamin asked genuinely curious. He just wondered if it was because of the letter or if she might be a Deadwolf and used her gift. She ignored what he asked and left the room. He was trying to make her transform that's how he would've known if she was a Deadwolf or not, now he has to do it another way.
"Do you think it's normal to just trespass my territory", Dakota asked her. At this point Rea was getting painful stings into her chest from being furious and stressed. "I told you that Benjamin isn't a good person and that he'd act like he's the only and best solution in this world but he isn't. He is a manipulator and he'll use you to get to me and he clearly is already manipulating you", Rea said frustrated to him. "You're just paranoid Rea", Dakota said. "He is genuinely a good person and he hasn't done anyone harm. Still I'm not too happy with you just running around my territory", he said and Rea clenched her fists in anger. "Maybe you should've just been honest when I asked you if you sent Benjamin away. Then I wouldn't have to run around your territory", Rea said and then she left.
She knows a hundred percent that Benjamin was here to manipulate people and ruin Rea's life and Dakota would realize that when it's too late and when Rea has given up on him.
