Physiology: Kulu-Ya-Ku has a body shape similar to other raptorial bird wyverns, such as Velocidrome. This monster is covered in light brown scales, with feathers on his head and arms. His face is similar to that of an extinct flightless pigeon called a Dodo, and his tongue possesses four miniature spikes, which are used to prevent egg yolk from spilling out when eating.
Behavior: Unlike other theropod bird wyverns, Kulu-Ya-Ku are very docile and calm when coming into contact with hunters. If attacked however, he will fight back.
Abilities: Kulu-Ya-Ku is able to pick up small boulders and use them to protect himself from oncoming attacks. He can toss said boulders at foes from a long distance or use a jumping slam to inflict stun, but he is seen on rare occasions digging up a vase from the ground as well. He is commonly spotted neat monster nests, like Rathian and even herbivore nest such as Rhenoplos and Apceros. He uses his beak to peck at hunters and claw swipes at attackers. In Master Rank, he gains an ability to dig up and use ore chunks or fling rocks instead of a regular rock. Ore chunks inflict more physical damage and stun hunters more easily while flint rocks can inflict fireblight.
Why he is my favorite?
-his weapons have high affinity, meaning more chance of critical hits.
-he is the second early monster encountered after Great Jagras.
-in Rise, he is based on Dodomeki, which is a yokai from Japanese Mythology described as a woman with long arms and bird eyes.
