Middle of the night, Saffron is forced awake from her reoccurring nightmare. Over the last month, they had been waking her up during the night and from daily naps and the only cause of them that she could think of was her breakup. It was currently 2am as she looked at hee bedside clock. "Ugh..." she groans befoee laying back down and trying to fall back to sleep. On the previous occasions she had been successful, but this time she isn't.
She gets out of bed and heads to Arthur's room. The apartment was dead silent and they were on a two week break due to the F1 and F2 not racing. She gently knocks on the door before slowly opening it. Her eyes land on Arthur's sleeping form as light from outside seeped through the small gap between the curtains. "Arth." the british girl quietly calls. "Arthur." she says a little louder. "Hmm, Saff?" Arthur asks tiredly. "I'm sorry for waking you. Can we talk?" Saffron asks.
"Sure. Come over here." Arthur says, shuffling ovee in his bed and allowing space for Saffron to join him. "What's up?" he asks, sitting up. "I've just been having these nightmares that keep waking me up during the night and from naps. I don't know why but they won't stop. I've been successful getting back to sleep most nights but they're becoming persistent and this time, it stopped me. Arthur, I don't know what to do." Saffron says as tears form in her eyes. "Hey, it's okay. You can stay in here until they stop. It's going to be okay." Arthur says, wrapping Saffron in a hug. "Thanks Arth. You're truly the best." Saffron softly smiles. "You're my best friend Saff. I'll do anything for you." Arthur says, kissing her cheek. "I know. Lets get some sleep. We have a busy day coming up." Saffron says as Arthur lays down. She lays beside him on her side.
Morning rose and Saffron awakens to Arthur's arm wrapped around her waist with her back against his chest. She didn't know when but as some point, Arthur began to spoon her. His embrace provided comfort to her and she could feel her heart rate speeding up and her heart skipped a beat a few times. Once her heart rate steadied, Saffron quickly falls back to sleep, sneakily intertwining her fingers with Arthur's.
She didn't know what it was about him but the youngest Leclerc always made her feel safe in his presence and he always calmed her down from panic attacks, even the smallest of ones. A little while later, Arthur wakes up to Saffron sound asleep in his arms. He knew he had to go back to racing soon and she had a little while longer off for the internship term which meant she had a little while longer to gather her thoughts.
Arthur unsnakes his arm from around her waist and clambers out of bed, trying to not wake Saffron in the process. He had a simple warm up and the Paul Ricard track with Charles and Ollie so began to get ready. "Where you off to?" Saffron asks walking into the living room. "I'm going karting with Charles and Ollie before the Imola Grand Prix. I'll be back soon, don't damage anything." Arthur says, walking over and kissing her forehead. "Okay. Don't kill Ollie or Charles while you're on track, please." Saffron says, looking him dead in the eyes. "I promise. I'll be safe." Arthur smiles, pulling her into a hug. "Okay. I'll see you when your back." Saffron smiles. "Yeah. I'll bring food." Arthur says before grabbing his back and leaving his apartment.
After Arthur had left, Saffron does a bit of tidying up, putting the boys dirty clothes in the wash basket along with hers as well as cleaning the dishes. She heads to her room and goes into her bag and pulls out a bottle of pills, a needle and injection. All she wanted was to make her pain go away and forget everything that had driven her to this point. The point where she wanted to overdose and commit suicide, taking her life. She weighed her options before placing then on the side and heads out.
Hours passed before Arthur messaged to say he was on his way home. Saffron read it before she took the medication and the injection. Both seem to work straight away as she instantly passes out on her bed. Tears streamed down her cheeks until she passed out fully and couldn't wake up.
