Taking place one month after the season 3 finale, Emma returns to the Gold Coast after 9 months of traveling the world. Excited to reunite with her BFFs, Rikki and Cleo, she soon sees they no longer wear their lockets as well as have met a new merma...
After a long busy year of traveling through the world, school by school and finally graduating, Emma was so excited to finally be going back to the Gold Coast, her true home, for summer vacation. Emma had been to places such as Paris, Madrid and Rome while on vacation but absolutely nothing compared to the beautiful Gold Coast where she grew up in. While on the plane she began playing with her locket, which was actually Cleo's as they had switched lockets before Emma left in order to remember each other while she was away.

Emma was excited to reunite with Rikki and Cleo and wondered how much they had changed and whether or not they missed her.
"Oh God, what if they're so different they don't wanna be my friends anymore?" Thought Emma. But just this once, she wasn't gonna overthink the situation, all she knew was that she was gonna see her best friends again.
The Gilberts finally landed and drove to their old home. Oh how Emma had missed it. She rushed for her old room and began unpacking as she texted Rikki and Cleo the good news.
Hey girls! Guess who's back? -Emma
After a while the girls responded
EMMA!! -Cleo I'm so glad you're back you beautiful psycho -Rikki We need to celebrate! Meet us at the moon pool. We have someone special you're going to want to meet! :-) -Cleo
Emma was confused by this. "Someone special I wanna meet?" She thought. And why were they meeting them at the moon pool? Something seemed strange to Emma. But she wasn't going to question it, this was Cleo after all.
Emma put on a fresh outfit and left the house. "Mum, I'm gonna go see Rikki and Cleo, I'll be back later!" Emma shouted to her mother as she left the house. "Go right ahead darling! You haven't seen them in ages!" Her mom smiled from her room as she unpacked all her things.
As soon as she knew no one saw her, Emma dove into the water. Surely enough she transformed into a mermaid. Oh how she'd missed swimming in the Australian waters! Quickly, she sped swam away to the moon pool, wondering who this mysterious stranger Rikki and Cleo were talking about was.
