One Shot No. OO2 :
Good's Glided Grief
[Luna's mother's accident]Silver hair brushed past her waist as she held up a small shiny cauldron, the three polished legs reflecting off the moonlight. As she carefully turned it over with clumsy nine-year-old hands, the silvery light caught in the small engravings on the bottom side a of each leg.
Xenophilus Lovegood read the upper left one.
Pandora Lovegood the upper right proclaimed.
And finally the bottom one, which was the shortest, forcing the cauldron to its tilt whispered in cautious handwriting. Luna Lovegood.
Luna rubbed her name carefully with the pad of her right thumb, her breaths foggy in the cold room.
"Isn't it wonderful?"
A comforting feminine voice spoke out from behind her. Luna turned to see her mom smiling softly at the cauldron in her daughter's hands. "Your dad helped me make it when we found out I was pregnant with you. We didn't write your name until you were born ― we were originally going to name you Nova but as soon as I saw you I knew you were Luna." Bringing Luna close to her with bare arms, she kissed the top of her daughter's head. "My Luna."
Luna grinned shyly. "Can you tell me the story behind my name again?"
Pandora Lovegood let out a laugh, her silvery blue eyes that matched Luna's twinkling. "Another time, my love. Now sit somewhere in the corner where you won't disturb mommy's work, okay?"
Luna pouted but obediently walked to the stairs and sat down, her light blue nightgown spreading like a crystal puddle. Her eager eyes followed her mom's movements. which seemed graceful and elegant.
"Like a warrior ballerina," Luna decided in her mind, with certainty that only someone untouched by the pains of life could believe. "Or an angel."
