"that's not the point." The eldest and ninth elder said amongst them and the hall became quiet.
He sighed, shaking his head and looking at the rest of them before looking at my alpha.
"He has a point,no one attacks the gamma of the blood moon pack, it's obvious she was sent by the enemy. On the plus side, she happens to be the Luna of the pack. It can be reasonable to say that she was sent because of her throwing skills....."his words was cut short by my question.
"Why have you all concluded that she was sent by an enemy of the pack, what reasons do you have?" I said staring him dead in the eye and he frowned.
"Her knife was coated in wolfsbane and silver, surely you don't think she's innocent because she's human." He fired back and I frowned looking away.
He was right in a sense, even though It felt like she was innocent, even though she looked innocent,it didn't change the fact that her knife was coated with deadly poison,it didn't change the fact that she had attacked the gamma of her pack.
But the few times I had spoken to her before she fell unconscious, she had seemed clueless about everything in particular,I felt she was innocent, but I wondered what alpha thought,he had been quiet since.
"She has to be punished according to the law after questioning...." He stopped when he heard my alpha's low growl.
"Not even a strand of hair would be touched." Alpha slowly said, his voice dropping a few octaves down,he still had his back turned to us,his gaze not leaving the view outside the window,I knew he was remembering the state of his mate when he had found her, they didn't know what he was going through,I would go on a rampage if I saw my mate in that condition, but my alpha was calm,he was trying to be calm,he was being an alpha and not letting his rage get the best of him.
"Very well then." The elder said standing up as he stared at the map " by now,the whole world would have found out that the Lycan King has found his mate, and now she's a target, she should be confined to the palace, she would be safer there."
"My mate will not be caged in her home." My alpha turned looking at the ninth elder.
"She's a human alpha, she has no powers,no skills,no abilities whatsoever to survive or protect herself against hunters or rogues. She is weak!!" He screamed.
"How dare you speak of your Luna in such a way." I growled,my wolf slowly taking control as I made my way to him when alpha raised his hand and I stopped.
"Like I said,my mate will not be caged in her home, not a word of this anymore." He walked away from the window heading towards the door and I followed behind when the elder's words filled the hall.
"Then you will be responsible if anything were to happen to our Luna supreme." His words made my alpha stop right at the door and I turned and stared at the elder, what was his deal anyway. One moment he wanted her to be punished according to the law,and now he seemed so concerned about her welfare.
"Alpha if your mate steps out and gets hurt,it will be your fault. I know you have kept everyone safe, you are the Lycan king, you are flawless. But now..." He said looking away,a look of disgust covering his wrinkled face "now you have a human by your side, and since no one can harm the flawless Lycan king, they'd turn to your human mate, and in seconds she'd be a memory."
The elders last words had struck a nerve, and my alpha's eyes had turned red immediately. He held the door and I took a step back from him,his low growl had become louder as he held the door with one hand,he turned glaring daggers at the elder making the elder take a step back.
Alpha took a breath and opened the door,it flew to the other side of the hall smashing into two as he stormed out.
I stared at the door brought down from its former glory,it was a beautiful door, the best wood had been used. But it was of no use now, I stared at the elders all of them wide-eyed and a bit scared, but none of them had left their seats.
I shook my head leaving the hall,it was very very wrong to kill an elder and that was why he was still very much alive, alpha would have snapped his neck in two.
I got to the elevator but there was no sign of him, I ran out into the soft snow but still no sign of him,I traced his scent leading outside the huge gate.
I followed suit, stepping out of the gate it seemed colder and lonely, huge trees stood tall at both side giving way to a long road ahead. I trailed his scent leading out of the road and into the forest,my leg disappearing into the snow only to resurface back as I took slow steps,so many thoughts as I tried to find him.
His scent got stronger and I quickened my steps until I came out to a clearing. I saw him standing all alone, overlooking the lake, his hands behind his back. The lake had a thin layer of ice covering it, it's beauty captivating enough to overlook the dangers of stepping on it.
I stood there watching him,he stood quietly, still staring at the lake and I just watched his back.
"The elder is right." My best friend said, without turning to look at me. "I cannot protect her all the time, the one moment I turn away, ten thousand will come for her."
I stared away for a while before looking back at him"so the palace is safe for her." I said but he didn't reply.
"But yet the elder is so wrong." He continued "she isn't a burden to me,I am a burden to her. Right now she's unconscious, oblivious to the plans we're making to confine her." He said shaking his head sadly.
"But we won't confine her, she'd be free to move around, and if she has to leave the palace she'd be guarded twenty four hours...."I didn't finish cause alpha's next words cut like a sharp sword.
"Was this her life before?" Alpha asked, turning slightly to look at me and I didn't have any next words to say. "She's a human, she has dreams and desires. And now that will all be cut short cause I am her mate." He spoke with such sadness that I wanted to hug him.
We stayed quiet for a while before my best friend turned fully to me,I knew he was ready to head back home and I followed him quietly until we got to the huge gate,he held my shoulder in a reassuring manner and left.
But I knew that I was supposed to be the one comforting him.
