Griffin looked out of his window, seeing Anakin waiting for Ioana to be ready. He sat on a bridge, in the beautiful garden of the palace. "Pathetic." He whispered in disgust, even the word of Anakin was enough the tick him off, but seeing his face, seeing him acting all lovely with Ioana made Griffin fill with madness and anger.

His mother, Lady Valeria felt bad for her son. But at the same time she couldn't help but feel a bit annoyed with Griffin's attachment, his attachment to the Queen. "My sweetling, your obsession with the Queen's companion is starting to worry me." His mother expressed her worries, he winced at the term she used for Anakin, her 'companion'.

"He's not Ioana's companion, mother. And you're seriously saying I have an obsession with that Jedi scum?" he dryly chuckles, pouring his mother more sweet tea. "As her right hand, I'm just concerned that he's filling her head with lies, the Dowager Queen says-"

"What does it matter what the Dowager Queen says? I thought after you find Eloise, you would stop visiting Lady Natalie." Valeria disappointment was so clear on her face.

Griffin sighs and looks away from his mother, "I'm having this feeling that you are conspiring with Natalie, and I want to warn you to not do it." The young Senator was quick to deny his indirect treason but after all, she was still his mother, "I can see right through your lies, my sweet son."

She sighs and grabs his cold hands in her warm ones, one hand placed on his cheek. She looked at him with eyes full of pity, and Griffin couldn't help but feel his stomach drop. "Don't meddle where you don't belong, don't trust Natalie." His anger now directed at his sweet mother, "Don't look at me with those eyes," he says pulling his hands away from hers.

"You're looking with the same eyes you'd use when I would have to serve some arrogant fat lord."

He sighs before taking a quick glare at Anakin, "You keep trying to make me feel bad about what I did, but you can't mother. Because of everything I did we're here right now, being to ones served the tea, not the ones to serve it. Yet here you stand, acting like you don't enjoy this. You were a maid to Natalie before me, I was a servant and now I'm the most powerful man on Alstoria."

Lady Valeria stayed silent during his outburst, "I did this, all of this, and so you wouldn't have to suffer anymore. You don't have to break your back while cleaning and cooking." She finally spoke in a warm tone, "I would much rather clean floors or endure the harsh treatment from the formal Queen than seeing you lose yourself, oh my dear boy."

His mother got up and stood right beside him, gently tucking away the curls from his eyes. "You're losing yourself and you're not even realizing it." She cooed.

Griffin shakes his head in denial of his mother's words, "No, my entire life I've been like this, but I've never had to power. Now I do, I can have what I want."

That wasn't the truth, he wasn't like this.

Before the formal Queen poised his head with lies and false promises, he was a sweet boy. A boy who was just a servant and a friend to the princess. Griffin was a generous boy and selfless.

Yet as years went by, and Queen Natalie mentoring him, he became cold and self-interested. The boy that once would've died for Ioana's happiness became the man that helped to destroy the life that brought her happiness.

The Senator could feel tears forming in his eyes.

Vea was tying the laces to the Queen's dress, while Eloise made sure that the dress looked perfect in the full-body mirror. "It's all done, Your Grace." The maid announced, slightly grinning when she saw the way Eloise's cheeks were redder than usual.
