07 | QUESTIONS

I had been asleep, in Rosalie's bed I think. I think I fell asleep in Emmett's arms. The last thing I remember is someone telling me,

"We'll protect you forever"

I wake up to the sound of people entering the house, I get up and walk down the stairs.

I see Carlisle and Esme, standing in the kitchen where all the others sat.

"Iris, you're awake" Alice comes to my side. "Hello Iris dear, are you well? You look as if you were in tears, they didn't do anything did they?" Esme asks, concerned.

"No Mrs Cullen, I'm okay. I just had a bad thought and it brought me to tears, I'll be on my way now" I state, grabbing my bag from the couch.

"No, please. Take a seat, I'll make you something before you go home" Esme states.

"You sure? I don't want to intrude-" "Nonsense, you wouldn't be" Esme gives me a warm smile.

I look at the clock above, the time showing 7:30pm.

"Okay, sure. Why not?" I give in. "Great, you can take a seat on the couch and I'll be back with your food soon" she smiles before turning her back to me and starting up something.

I exhale before sitting down on the couch. I switch on my phone and swipe through pictures before getting a call from Nova.

N- Nova. I- Iris.

N- When will you be home? I thought you were just doing an apprenticeship?

I- Sorry Nov, I forgot to tell you about the music project me and the Cullen kids were doing. I kinda fell asleep and now their mum's making me supper

I- I promise I won't be this late tomorrow but hey, at least I'm staying within your curfew. I should be back before 10pm

N- I'm not mad, as long as you follow my curfew then we're good. Have a good time chica, I'll see you later

I- Bye Nono

BEEP

I sigh and look out the glass wall at the beautiful trees that were scattered all over.

"Wanna go for a walk?" I hear Edward ask me, with his hand out. "Sure" I reply before taking his hand and walking out of the house.

We continue to walk into the forest until he brings me to a meadow. The meadow and little sprouts of flowers, waiting patiently for spring.

We sat down- well actually we layed down in the middle of the meadow and spoke about our lives.

Speaking to Edward was actually relaxing, not boring like Emmett said it would be.

Edward was relaxing. I curled up to his chest, as he had an arm wrapped around my torso.

"I want to thank you and siblings for the amount of kindness you have shown me today. So, I'll start with you" I state.

"Thank you so much Edward Cullen, for taking care of me today on my first day of school. You and your siblings have been nothing but kind and welcoming towards me, thank you. And me being able to pour out my past to you means you're special, always know that you are special to me. So thank you Edward" I smile up at him.

"Of course Iris Dwyer, it was my pleasure. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Besides, now that that scumbag of a boy is gone... You have me, and you always will" Edward vows.

Why was I so attracted to this family? It's just something about them that draws me in and there's no going back.

We stay in the meadow for another minute which felt like an hour while being close to Edward's cold body.
