It's Summer Time

The bell rings

And my heart soars

It's the sound of my heartbeat

The smell of the sweet pollen on the warm breeze

The humming of the bountiful bees in the morning wake

I'm awaken to the familiar feeling

And you whisper it first,

"It's summer time. School's out."

Seniors have gone and flew away

Juniors stay ready to do the same

Sophomores wait, watch, and dream

While Freshman start their new journey, begin

Through my glasses, I wait patiently

Listening to the words

that my mother told me second,

"I'm here and I'll always love you."

What I say goes next year

I'm almost on my own

But I'll wait those two years patiently

I won't rely on conditional love

Or be thrown off my path with conflicted love either

I'll keep treading forward courageously

Using my weapons of destruction

and clearing everything in my path

just like a wrecking ball

 She screamed it last,

"It's summer time!"
