Wish I Was As Lucky

The sound of the clock ticking by so slowly is beginning to drive me insane. Most of the Knight family have now gone home due to having kids so it's just me and the parents. They keep their distance from each other which I thought would be a little awkward but they seem to be comfortable in the same space. They're deliberating whether to go to the hospital restaurant to grab a bite to eat and they offer to bring me back something. Jordan has nipped back home to pick up some of Jon's belongings. A nurse pops in to check on me which is really sweet. I ask her if she can direct me to the disabled toilet.

I quickly relieve myself and my ears pick up when I hear the staff talking about the Knights and how they're fans of their group

I quickly relieve myself and my ears pick up when I hear the staff talking about the Knights and how they're fans of their group. "Excuse me, please can you point me to Jonathan Knight's room? I've gotten lost." They direct me. I take a deep breath before I try to push the door open, luckily a nurse notices me struggling and rushes over to help me. "Thank you." I send a smile her way and she smiles softly. When I finally get into the room, Jon is laid on his side facing the window.

"Are you just gonna stand there ya idiot and how are you so quick?!" His voice calls out

"Are you just gonna stand there ya idiot and how are you so quick?!" His voice calls out. I guess he wasn't talking to me with his agitated tone. I don't know what to say as it's the first time I've seen or been near him since it happened with him and I suddenly feel a little bit anxious. He eventually turns to lie on his back. Then his face turns towards the door meaning me. His eyes widen in surprise. "Keli-Anne?" I nod. "What, why are you in here?" He asks. "I, wanted to make sure you were okay as the rest of your family have gone, your parents to the hospital restaurant and Jordan has gone to your place to get you your things." I sit here nervously, twiddling my thumbs. "Are you going to speak or sit there like a mute?" His condescending tone is beginning to make me feel regretful for coming in here. "I have spoken. I shouldn't have come in here." I look down into my lap. "You shouldn't be in here, I told my brother this." What, he told Jordan to not let me in here? Why not, I frown. "He's not here but you know that."

I take a deep breath and glance around his room before I let my gaze focus on view outside the window

I take a deep breath and glance around his room before I let my gaze focus on view outside the window. "I didn't want you to see me like this." He mumbles. "I care about you. I don't care about how you look." He grunts to himself. "You should go, Keli-Anne." My eyes automatically turn towards him. Anger surges through me. "I don't understand why you're being like this with me, you should feel lucky that I'm even here worrying about you despite what happened with the way you treated me. You should also treat your brother better because he loves and adores you. He worships the ground you walk on. Stop pitying yourself. Look at how lucky you are. I wish I was as lucky as you, Jonathan. Now the only reason why you'll ever see me again is if you beg me to or if your brother wants me to be with him when he sees you. Take care. I'm sorry that it didn't work out with you because I have been waiting out there worrying about you and maybe even trying to make it work with you again." After I finish my little rant, I spin my wheelchair around and pull myself through the door.

I manoeuvre myself back to the relatives room and feel thankful that Jordan or his parents are not back yet

I manoeuvre myself back to the relatives room and feel thankful that Jordan or his parents are not back yet. Regrets bubble under my skin as I think back to my time with Jon and the interaction that I've just had, did I really miss what I had said to him? Or was it just to gage a reaction out of him? I'm not sure. In all of my life so far, I have never spoken to anyone in the way I just done to Jon. I quickly wipe a tear that falls down my cheek but the more I feel shame and regret, the heavier the tears come. I hear the familiar voices of Jordan's parents getting closer so I reach for the napkins on the coffee table to dab my face dry because I don't want them to question why I've been crying or if they even notice. They probably won't because they don't really know me.

His parents seem really sweet, the father fairly quiet who keeps himself to himself and the mother who is the heart of all her children and grandchildren. I never expected to be welcomed into the family like I have even though I'm still not sure what they know about my complicated relationship with Jordan and Jonathan. I must remember to ask Jordan about this so I don't put my foot in by saying the wrong thing or make myself feel like a slag. Well I am or was dating two brothers. I'm startled when the door is pushed open but relieved to see Jordan. His gaze lingers when he sees me, he sends me a tight-lipped smile before saying hello to his parents. I watch as he walks to me with an overnight bag hanging over his shoulder. "You okay? I'm gonna head back in there with the dark Knight. I've tried to be as fast I could." I giggle. It takes him a moment to realise what made me giggle, and he whispers into my ear "laters, baby. Then you can be reminded how fast I can be." My cheeks blush. "Shush, and behave yourself, naughty Knight. Your parents are only a few seats away." He chuckles and places a peck on my cheek. "Mum, Dad. Are you both okay?" He questions them to where they both reassure him that they're good. They tell him to get back to his brother.
