Sannidhi Age 22

I park my activa in the student parking spot and get my blue prints out. It was only 8 am but I wanted to go back to sleep again. Damn you Sushanth.

"He blocked you again?" My childhood friend Aditi asked walking beside me.

"He took a step further and broke up with me." I say.

"It's your 29th breakup this year, isn't it? And its only October. I'm telling you Nidhi; you guys are breaking records this year."

"No Ved, its her 30th one. The 29th happened after her birthday party last week remember?" Aditi corrected her boyfriend, Vedanth.

"Oh yeah, I forgot. Thanks for reminding me babe." He grabs her and kisses on top of her head.

"Ha ha. Go ahead make fun at my expense guys. Some kind of friends you are." I say as we walk towards our block.

"We've told you a hundred times to finally break up with his ass and be done with it. But do you listen to us then? No. you only listen to us only when we try to make a little joke and lighten your mood. I'm so hurt by your double standards Nidhi" Vedanth says clutching his chest.

"You're so dramatic Vedanth. Aditi, how do you handle this buffoon?" I pinch his arm making him yelp.

"The same way you handle with that guy- minus all the drama, breakups and childish arguments every single day."

"Now don't over-exaggerate. He doesn't argue every single day" I say defensively.

"Sorry ma'am. Forgive me, every other day" she folds her hands.

"You've been in a toxic relationship for so long, it has begun to feel like a normal relationship to you." Vedanth says.

"Sushanth is not all bad Ved, he's kind, handsome and funny. He has so many plans for our future- he's finally going to tell his parents about us. As soon as I finish my graduation and get a job, we're going to get engaged and buy a home together. He has it all figured out. He's just going through a hard time with his grandpa's death. So, he needs a little space"

"That was not his grandfather. That man died before this idiot was even born, that was his great uncle" Aditi glares at me.

"Yeah, but he was the only grandfather figure he had"

"That man lived in America for 30 years- more years than this idiot has even been alive, and only visited India once a year for 2 weeks. They're not even that close for him to be this upset about his death for 8 months. Babe, stop being so gullible." Aditi said seriously.

After we finished our first 3 classes that day, we decided to bunk the rest and sat in the cafeteria.

I sat in my chair scrolling through the pictures I'd taken with my boyfriend now my ex-boyfriend Sushanth.
