Sannidhi

A week had passed and the only 'work' we had done was deliver one blueprint from the first floor to the ground floor and we had fought who will do that too.

We had to come to the office at 8 sharp and leave at 5. Most employees at Lighthouse worked till 7 or even 8 pm since they had an important project going on. The interns, A.K.A us weren't even allowed on the third floor where the project planning was happening except the architects who were working on it.

It was very evident that the firm was going through a hard time from the past three years, but Mr Jayram the Chairman wasn't ready to accept it. Mr Jayram's daughter was also working on the project but she was no architect, she is an interior designer but I'd never seen her.

If believing the office rumours the office receptionist told Charu, Charvi and me to be true, Mr. Jayram's daughter was unwell most of the time. No one knew what the actual reason was but that's what the higher ups always told them. She worked from home most of the time only coming to the office when it was absolutely necessary. Sometimes the work she was supposed to do from home would be incomplete or not submitted even weeks after the deadline.

"So, who's going to take up the firm once Mr. Jayram retires? He's pretty old." Charvi commented.

"Charvi, you cannot say that." Charu hissed at her sister.

"That he's old? Isn't that the truth? He's almost grandpa's age." Charvi hissed back.

"Won't the daughter be handed over the position no matter what? As far as I know he has no sons and the firm he built with blood and sweat will obviously go to his family. Doesn't how things get done in India?"

"Sannidhi, we have been in this office for a week and we've never seen her once. I doubt she's interested in coming to the office for once and take actual responsibility. Bet she's spending all that daddy and husband's money in a spa or vacation somewhere." Charu glared at her twin for the longest time for saying that.

"Not everyone is like you Vi, people actually think about other things than spas or vacations or shopping. She might have kids and a family to take care of and must be busy doing that. Radha di, you were saying.." Charu looked at the receptionist who had decided to hand over the office gossip one by one like a golgappa bhaiya to us that morning.

"Rajini, the previous manager used to say that Kannika, Jayram sir's daughter is divorced and lives with her father. Her kid lives somewhere abroad like the U.K or U.S and will take over the company from his grandfather one day. Until then Jayram Sir will remain the CEO."

"I wish my father or grandfather had a business to hand over to me. but all they've given me until now is trauma." Aarnav sighed to which we all laughed.

"What is going on here? Why aren't you all working?" A voice clears his throat behind us.

I slowly turn back to see Mr Jayram standing behind us staring at us all.
