Sannidhi

"Think hard once again Siri, you'll have to call such psychopaths as relatives after marrying jiju. I mean who chooses sleep over KK songs? God should help the girl who marries him." I say handing over a 200 rupee note to the flower vendor.

"I know, the guy is so rude. Where are his British manners?" Siri grabs the bamboo basket the lady gave and together we walk towards the temple gates.

"How is he even related to our sweet jiju?" I groan silently.

"I don't know man. I wonder how his girlfriend tolerates him."

"I don't think he has a girlfriend. Maybe he's gay. Oh my god Siri, what if he is in love with Sidharth and that's why he doesn't want him to marry you?"

"Nidhi, they are cousins." Siri stops and stares at me.

I walk closer to her and whisper in her ears, "You know it's pretty common for cousins to marry right? He just happens to be a boy in love with another boy. Let's not be homophobic, love is love. Look at him touching Sidharth. He's feeling his biceps, he's smiling so wide. I wonder if he has come out or still in the closet." She stared at the duo frowning, doubts making their way up to her mind.

"If you don't stop this nonsense now, I'll crack your skull with this coconut, Sannidhi Murthy." She grits out as we near them.

"Ready to go?" Sid asks smiling at us.

See, so sweet, while his cousin looked like he'd rather leave us behind and go.

After the darshan, we stopped at a restaurant to get dinner. Siri and Sidharth slid into a booth and I was forced to take a seat next to that guy. The restaurant was located on the third floor giving a full view of the twilight sky outside and cool air flowing through the open French windows.

I flipped through the menu looking for my favourite part. Desserts.

I grinned and rubbed my palms together when I saw hot chocolate fudge written in the specials section. I looked up to tell Sidharth about my order when I felt eyes on me.

Our eyes clashed for a heartbeat before both of us looked away.

"So, do you have a special girl back home?" Siri asks taking a sip of her water.

"No."

Of course, pearls would fall out of his mouth if he said more than a single syllable.

"Or a guy?" I add ignoring the pain when Siri kicks me under the table.

"Are you implying that I'm gay?" he stares down at me.

"Or Bi. Being gay isn't so bad you know; the world has come a long way from killing homosexuals in the dark ages to building a safe community for them. You shouldn't be afraid to come out and say what you are proudly without being afraid." I gently pat his wrist which he pulls away. I didn't even touch his skin, just his hoodie. "Love is love and should be celebrated by everyone." I add smiling.
