Just started my second playthrough, romancing our favorite vampire and had to tear myself away from my computer to write this. As always thank you for all the wonderful engagement, keeps me motivated. This chapter details the thought that inspired this whole story, hope you like it!

My conversations with Astarion had shifted since our night alone. His more sexual flirts had died down to make way for conversation that didn't involve my body. It was refreshing, finally I had found someone who care for me and not my body. Instead of taking pleasure in each others bodies, we took pleasure in words. I had told him about the origins of my conjured house, it was a vessel for a material version of my soul, I called it my soul home, but we mostly spoke of other matters. We spoke of our newfound freedom, commonly going on jaunts to explore it. We rarely spoke of our pasts, horribly similar, only when one of us experienced a flashback or nightmares, the other comforted them. Neither of us where good at it but we tried. Tonight was I night I struggled to sleep, I sensed everyone outside, their peaceful auras, I was lost in a book as I felt Astarion's aura change. He was having a nightmare. I rushed outside to him. My aura wrapping around his gently, to let him know I was there. It didn't work, so I placed my hands on his shoulders, softly shaking to wake him.

"Astarion, wake up, it's not real, you're having a nightmare." He awoke violently, kicking me off him,

"It was a nightmare Astarion, it's just me Y/N, you're at camp." Drawing his dagger,  he pinning me to the ground before coming to his senses. He put his dagger away, a look of fear and horror on his face.

"I- I'm sorry Y/N,I- I was just."

"It's ok, I don't blame you, you where having a nightmare." He sighed in relief.

"I'm worried they're not just nightmares, I'm worried that they're visions from him, that even though I have the parasite, he may still be able to control me." His voice shook with fear.

"I may have a solution if they are visions, in my soul home, nothing can penetrate it without my permission, he would have no control over you in there. Physical or mental intruders would be crushed by potent magic, my aura and other abilities in purest form. It is one of the only places I would call truly safe. But as you know, my aura is very potent there, I would be able to read you effortlessly inside, even if I reel it is as much as I can."

"Anything to get away from this." He responded, a bit of worry in his voice, he held out his hand to help me off the ground.

"I must warn you as I've said before, once you sleep on those beds you never go back." I chuckled trying to lighten the situation.

"A risk I'm willing to take." his voice serious clearly not wanting our usual playful banter. We stepped into my home. I led him to one of the many spare rooms.

"Do you want anything to drink, I have a fine collection of wines."

"No thank you, I think I will go back to my rest." He was colder than usual. His aura told me he was afraid, then it showed me why he had been desperate to leave me alone. He was ashamed, in the beginning he had been manipulating me, getting someone on his side to protect him. That's why he slept with me. Then he had realized how alike we were and now was genuinely in love with me. I was hurt by this revelation, but at least his affection was true now, and at least he hadn't lied about not sleeping with me for my body.
