Broken 2:A Second Chance

"Hey stop!" I yell and chase Liam and Noah around.

Yes. Two kids.

Almost two months after I had flown to the UK,I found out I was expecting. It was cryptic and I was shocked.

"Run,mommy." Liam giggled.

I groaned and plopped into the couch.

"Hey!" Josh yelled happily from the hallway leading to the parlour.

"Uncle Josh!" The twins yelled and ran towards him.

"Thank you." I mouthed and began picking up the toys.

My first year in UK was a bit cumbersome. But as time went on,I got a bit used to it.
I managed to graduate university and now,I'm a psychiatrist of a hospital here in the UK.

"You're welcome." Josh mouthed back.

Josh had been my first friend since I came here and as time went on,we became more than friends. He knew about the father of the twins and he was totally comfortable with it.

"I'm so tired I could just close my eyes and sleep for like...the whole afternoon." I kid.

"Wow,and I thought I had stress issues." Josh laughed.

I smiled and placed the toyed in their appropriate baskets.

"Mommy?" Liam said and patted my hip. I looked down at him and gave a wry smile.

"I want pizza." He said,giving me puppy dog eyes.

"Pizza, pizza,pizza." Noah chanted and hopped.

Josh folded his arms across his chest and smiled at me.

"I'll handle the ordering,you get some rest." Josh said and nudged me towards my bedroom.

"Your hair looks good by the way." He complimented with a wink.

I smiled and entered the room.

I switched on my phone and looked at the picture that had been saved as my wallpaper. It was a picture of me,Lukas and Elron.

I blinked back the tears that was threatening to spill and closed my eyes.

"Edelle,for the last time,I am not getting rid of the boy.I am not going to send him to the UK just because you said so!" I growled.

Edelle rolled her eyes and scoffed. "Really,is that why you don't want to send him?" She asked,her eyes welling up in tears.

"Four years. Four years,I have tried my best,my earnest,to make you love me like I love you. But because of that girl,who left you for the dust,you can't forget that." She cried. Her eyes were red and her hair was messy.

She was right. It had been four years and yet still,I couldn't forget her.

Her smile. Her smell. The way she blinked when she was exasperated.

I wanted to hug Edelle,to tell her I was sorry. To make her believe I somewhat loved her,but I couldn't bring myself to do it.

"I get it. I get it. I won't bother you about it again." She said and slammed the door on her way out.

"Shit." I mumbled and combed my hair with my hand.

There was a slight pat on my door.

"Dad?" Lukas said and peeked his little head through the little access given when he opened the door.

"I need to talk to you." He whispered shyly.

I sat by my desk and looked at him.

"Go on." I said.

"Okay,so,today at kindergarten,a boy placed gum in my hair and then he laughed about it." He whined.

I really needed to teach this boy how to be tough.

"And Aunty Edelle said I'm a mistake." He said. That struck a nerve.

"She what?" I yelled and stood up. I could feel the nerve under my eye twitching.

I grabbed his hand and walked downstairs.

"Edelle!" I roared.

She emerged from the kitchen and looked at Lukas and then at me.

"What did you tell Lukas?" I asked,my anger ticking slowly.

"I told him what he wanted to hear."

"And what was that?" I asked, raising a brow.

"I told that his mother left him because he was a mistake!" She rolled her eyes.

I didn't even know how she had transformed from this lovable young lady to this b- no,I wasn't going to say the b word.

"Edelle,I have had enough of you and your attitude. I don't know where this jealousy is coming from but one more of this,and I'll send you back to your parents."

She looked at me with teary eyes and walked up the stairs.

"Is it okay?" I heard Josh ask when I woke up.

"Uh huh...But where's mommy?" Noah asked.

"I'm here." I smiled and took a seat beside the twins.

"Mommy,the pizza is awesome. Just a bit too spicy." Noah said in his tiny voice.

"Aww." Josh says and takes a bite of his slice.

I look at the two blonde haired boys and realised they looked a lot like Elron. Especially Liam.

I took a slice of pizza and was about to take a bite when my phone rang.

"Hello?" I answered and placed the pizza down.

"Dr. Claire,you have to get here immediately."

It was really weird to hear someone call me doctor.

I cut the call and stood up.

"I have to go." I said and kissed Liam and Noah on the cheek.

"No kis for me?" Josh asked.

"Eww!" The boys yelled in unison and then giggled.

"I'm sorry,I'm in a rush." I said and grabbed my car keys from the rack.
