"Can I talk to you?" Anne asked anxiously before walking into his room.

"Sure, what's up?" Tristan closed his book and looked up at her. She drew in a breath and sat by the edge of his bed.

"It's been so long since we talked." Tristan began. Anne smiled shyly and scratched the nape of her neck. He could sense her uneasiness from where he was.

"What's wrong?"

"I can't say it." She blinked back her tears as she said that.

"Please." Tristan said and held her hand.

She looked at him and exhaled a bit.

"I....I'm pregnant." She whispered. Tristan's eyes widened in shock when she said that.

"You're what?" Felix yelled from outside.

Tristan and Anne turned their attention to the man outside.

"What the heck man?!" He yelled with opened arms.

"Felix, get out. We'll talk later." Tristan said without looking away.

"No,you fucked her. And you got her fucking pregnant!" He yelled.

Anne looked at Tristan with teary eyes before walking to the door.

"I'll talk to you later." She said and walked away.

___

"You fucked her!" Felix yelled when she left.

"Stop saying that!" Tristan yelled back.

"Well that's what you did." Felix said and ran his fingers through his hair.

"Yeah,no shit! That's what I did but why are you saying it like that?"

"Because I fucking loved her." Felix yelled.

"You're sick,I'm going out." Tristan said and brushed past him.

___

"The rest was a blur." The man said and shook his head. Tears stung my eyes as I tried to imagine what happened.

My mom would have had a happy life. A lovely life infact. But that monster, that monster took it all away from her.

"All these years. All these painful and loveless years, where were you?" I asked the man once again.

"Trust me when I say I tried. I tried multiple times. He tried to kill me. He thought I died. I didn't. I wanted to get you and your mother out of that situation. But it was too late." He said and looked at me with teary eyes.

"What do you mean?" I asked him. "After our parents found out what I did to Anne, they disowned me and made Felix marry her." He said and blinked back the tears.

"What?"

"Claire, they made him marry her. They...they made her suffer. They made her lose her life." He said and held my hand. I didn't flinch this time.

"You mean.."

"They decided that since the deed had already been done and they claimed I was dead after my disownment,Anne would marry him so that they would continue the family bloodline." He said and closed his eyes.

I could see his pain. I could feel it. It was contagious.

"What did you do after the disownment?" I asked after getting him tissues.

"Since they disowned me,they also froze my account. Luckily,I was saving another part of the money in another account. So when they kicked me out of the house,I took a bit of that money and travelled out of the country."

"I'm...I'm so sorry." I said and hugged him.

"It's okay." He said when I began sobbing. I wanted to let out all the pain that was being harboured in me.

"I never stopped thinking about you. And when you stood up for yourself and sued him,I felt a sense of pride. That was my daughter." He smiled slightly.

I sobbed even more and hugged him tightly.

"Mommy?" Liam said while walking to the living room.

"Who's that?" Tris...my father asked.

"Your grandson." I answered and sniffles.

He looked at the curly haired boy with a bright smile and extended his arms. Liam ran towards me and his face in my arms.

"Sorry,he's shy." I apologized.

"It's okay,he doesn't know me that's why." He smiled. He had the sweetest smile I had ever seen.

"Liam, don't be shy, that's grandpa." I whispered to Liam. Liam looked at me then at my father.

He slowly walked towards him and said "Hello."

My father responded with a smile.

"We're two. Do you want to meet my brother?" He said. He had gotten comfortable in a matter of minutes.

My father looked at me with a confused expression.

"They're twins." I clarified.

"Wow." He laughed. Liam held his hand and directed him to the kitchen.

For some unknown reason,I felt this inner peace. I didn't want it to stop.

I followed them to the kitchen only to find him already chumming it up with Josh.

How contagious was his friendliness?
