It has been 3 days since I sent word to my parents about the change of plans. During that time I had...fun? It feels off or wrong for me to say that. But it's the closest way to describe how I feel, I think. I hung out with Lillian...I smiled to myself at that thought. How long has it been since I hung out with anyone–willingly? I even met the teachers I will be working with at the school. I've honestly been– in a long time–enjoying myself.

I see the door to my chambers after coming back from my outing with Lillian. I've stopped bringing lin to my outings with Lilian. So when I don't see her in my chambers my eyebrows furrow together. I walk in and look around my chamber anxiously until I hear my door open. I spin around and see lin.

"Where were you?" I say.

"Kaveah took me out. learning" She says. I can't help the bubble of pride that forms when she says a coherent sentence. I looked up at Kaveah.

"Why did you take her out without my knowledge?" I see her fidget and squirm under my gaze.

"I taught her more about her position and some more English. I don't want her ignorance to hinder you if I'm not here." I relaxed a bit.

"Thank you for that. Next time tell me." she nodded in agreement. "Have my parents sent anything?" I let out a breath. I go to take a seat with Lin next to Kaveah and me standing in front of me.

"Yes, they have." She goes to a table and picks up a letter. She puts it in my hand. I hastily opened it despite myself. I smile to myself. "It seems they are well and need us to send the cousins money quickly." I hand it back to Kav and she reads it for herself. I look at her face to see it furrowed.

"What's wrong?" I asked. She looks at me.

"I don't know. I'm worried," she muttered then stared back at the letter with a huff.

I feel my eyes soften and my body starts to relax. "If they have issues they will tell me. Like they did in this letter, love." I stood up to cup her face. "I love you for worrying but relax, Kav."

"Yes, I know," I smiled at her response. I walk to the door.

"Though I do think it's about time we visit that cousin, don't you?" I turn my head to her and see her smiling.

"I do, Princess." she replies

I've been following Kaveah to a dark and shady part of the kingdom since we couldn't take a carriage as it would attract more attention. It smells like shit and piss, which confuses me. The people here are like rats living in this shit. They're disgusting. I mean, for such a great kingdom, you would think everyone would have decent or even luxurious living conditions. I stare at the sickly-looking children on the streets and my face turns. I see how they stare and wish they could have at least something of mine. I feel their hate and jealousy, their fear.

We stopped at one of the few good-looking houses in this area but it's still too wrecked to be anything worth remembering. Kaveah knocks on the door and a man opens it. He has dark brown hair and brown eyes, very common-looking. The only way you could even tell we are somewhat related is the aura around him, something all of my family has. He looks me up and down and quickly raises his eyebrow in question.

I step in front of Kav, "Hello cousin. My name is Scarlet Nyx." I hold my hand out with a smile. He looks at my hand and then looks back up at me.

"And?" He crosses his arms and stares at me. I push him out of the way and barge in. I huff, someone would think he didn't live in this thing.

"Well, I'm the daughter of the person who helped you move out of the Nyx kingdom and gave you money." I look around in disgust. "But I can see that you haven't been using it to its fullest potential." I sit after Kaveah places a napkin on the seat. I smile at him again.
