You woke up to an abrupt tapping on the forehead. "You can't sleep all day" a soft familiar voice rang in your ears making you wince your eyes open.
A sudden burst of light streamed into your room as curtains were opened. "Ouch! Do you want me to keep my retinas?" You moaned, quick to pull the thick duvet over your face.
A clink of a cup hitting your dresser made you peep from the safety of your den. A fresh steaming cup of coffee sat waiting to be devoured. "Thanks Shoko"Your roommate perched at the end of your bed, staring at you expectantly.
You gingerly took sips of your beverage trying not to make eye contact. You didn't know how much she knew of last night and you really wanted to keep it that way.
"Are you going to tell me about what happened between you and Satoru? Or am I going to have to pull it out of you?"
Uh oh! Busted.
You mumbled a curse word into your drink in response which made your friend laugh. You could already feel the migraine pulsating in your templates, this explanation wasn't going to be fun."Well.. what do you know?" you quizzed back. Yes! Great idea, push the questions back on her.. see how she likes it!
She cocked her eyebrow, "Well I came home as Satoru was zipping up his jeans soooo.. yeah" she pressed her lips together and watched for your reaction.
You cringed at her words, it's never a good look to get walked in on, let alone when your technically cheating. You took a deep inhale to try and regain some confidence. "Yeah, we.. we did stuff. But we didn't do that!" You quickly interjected before she could chastise you for your behaviour. She continued to look at you like a disappointed parent which was worse than anything she could of said.
"You need to talk to Suguru"You nodded. She was right. If you were going to do anything today it was to get up and see him, tell him the truth and work through this - whether the outcome be good or bad.
"I'm also sorry.." she added. You looked back up to her from your thoughts, she looked guilt ridden. "I kind of pushed Gojo last night into dancing with you. I know.. I wasn't really thinking. I just see how happy he's been making you recently and I just want you happy"It took a moment for you to absorb her words but you weren't angry. Shoko always had the best intentions and honestly, she wasn't wrong. Last night was the happiest you'd been in months.
Your mind wandered off to Satoru, wondering where he was now and what he was thinking. He'd left shortly after Shoko had gotten home but not before making sure you were tucked into bed and tears were no longer staining your cheeks. She left you to enjoy the remainder of your coffee and nurse your hangover.
You grasped your phone from the side, you'd been avoiding looking at it since the missed calls last night.
You clicked into WhatsApp, two conversations had multiple messages.
Suguru's chat had no text, only missed calls.Satoru ~
I hope you're asleep right now.

"What's the rush?" You asked your friends as you power walked to Yaga's office. Gojo had abruptly knocked for you and Shoko early afternoon and said that Yaga wanted to speak with you all urgently. You had no idea what was going on but something in the pit of your stomach was churning making your insides squirm.
Gojo turned to you with a frown. "Honestly I don't know, but it's not like him to call us in on a weekend. It's gotta be bad"
The three of you eventually made it to his office, the door was closed so you tapped on the wooden panel to make yourself known.
"Yes come in please"
Yaga's office was minimal and simplistic. The entire room was dark due to occupying only one very small window. It didn't help that the office was floor to ceiling made of wood which completely absorbed most light that hit it.
At the back of the room was his desk and there were a couple of plastic school chairs placed neatly in front of it."Please come forward. There's no time to delay"
His voice sounded stern but there was an element of anguish lacing his words, he was hurting. You all walked forward and stood in front of his desk, you and Shoko bow politely out of respect. Gojo does no such thing and gets straight to the point."Why are we here Yaga?"
The older male frowned whilst soothingly stroking his beard.
"There's no easy way to tell you kids this... It's Suguru"
"Last night he went to a village and slaughtered 31 people"
