"Wait, wait wait. Let me just get this straight, so you found Cyrax guarding an egg", you nodded at your friend who continued. "And that means she laid it.."
You hummed in agreement. "But dragons in the Tatsuya clan only have offspring when their master is.."
You couldn't even bring yourself to look up at Shoko, you were in utter denial. There was absolutely no way this was possible.

Your friend was just as wide eyed as you. "Have you taken a.."
"No" you cut her off instantly not wanting to hear the words, the overwhelming anxiety of the thought of this being true was way to much.
You both sat in your kitchen in silence for a minute, your friend hesitant to broach the subject again seeing how unsettled it was making you.
She placed her hand ontop of yours to give you some reassurance that you weren't alone in this.

"I thought you were on contraception?"
You nodded feebily. "I am"
"Can't you check your pill packet to make sure you've taken them? I'm sure it's nothing to worry about"
You explained to your friend where she could find your prevention. Shoko headed to your room and made her way to your bedside drawer. She rummaged around for a few moments before returning to you with the foil container.
"You've missed quite a few" her voice quiet with concern.
You raised your head momentarily to look at the packet. You'd been on the pill since you started dating Suguru, you took a week's break when your period came but you'd always been super vigilant with taking them.

Your orbs scanned the week days printed on the foil, you'd forgotten to take quite a few after things deteriorated with Suguru. You counted 5 tablets still snuggly wrapped.
"Could it be Suguru's?"
You shook your head, the dates of your missed pills didn't line up with any intimacy dates with Geto, plus after the passing of Riko and Yu, your relationship with Suguru had become strained and sex stopped altogether.

"So Satoru.." she murmured.
You pushed your fingers through your hair desperately trying to work out in your mind why this had happened.
It was your own stupid fault.
A mixture of lows from losing your first love and highs from finding new love had completely saturated your mind and left no room for self care, including prevention of pregnancy.

You sniffed back some mucus building in your nose while tears began to fill your bottom lids. Shoko reacted immediately and wrapped her arms around your shoulders tightly. "Everything will be fine, no matter what happens you'll always have me and if I know Satoru, you'll always have him too"

If you'd learned anything today so far it was that your best friend was truly the greatest human being in the world.
Shoko had continued to comfort you for the next hour and slowly convinced you that taking a pregnancy test was the best course of action.
She made the good point that you could be worrying for nothing however you highly doubted it.
She'd then quickly run out to buy a test leaving you to down exactly a pint and a half of water in her absence.

"Ok! I bought like 5 different ones because I wasn't sure which to get or what was most accurate" she burst through the door, plastic bags flying in the air as she hurried in.
You made your way over as she tipped the contents of the bag out onto the counter. Clear Blue, First Response, Wonfo and some other store brands you'd never heard of scattered across the table.
"Jeez Shoko, a bit overkill"

Your friend decanted the tests from the packets and began reading the instructions for each whilst you mindlessly stared at them still wondering how you'd managed to get yourself into this situation.
"Um so it says best to use first pee.. when was your last period?"
You thought hard for a minute before replying, "I think I'm about a week late"
You couldn't believe you hadn't even noticed until now that you hadn't gone on your period!

"Ok well I think your ok to take them without it being first pee then"
You took the disposable plastic cup and amble into the bathroom to do the deed.

"That felt like the longest pee of my life" you moaned, placing the full cup on the side. Now the nervous part, actually dipping them.
"I don't think I can do it" your voice losing all confidence. Shoko nodded in understanding, "I'll do it"

The brunette began to dip each test into the cup and turned the test face down to allow it to develop.
Once finished she came back to your side and wrapped her arm round you once more. You leaned your head on her shoulder feeling so grateful for her right now.

"Ok, I think it's been five minutes"
Your stomach churned with anxiety, if this was positive how were you going to deal with this?
How would you tell Satoru?
Your family, oh my god. They could never know, that child would be their prized possession.

"One.. two.. three"
