Song Recommendation: Novacane - Frank Ocean

Scarletts's POV:

The man in a suit opened our car door, as me and the familiar blonde slid out of the backseat together.

I followed the woman as we made our way into a nice restaurant. It was dimly lit, with a bar to the side. It was somewhat quiet, but not silent. I liked that.

She talked to a waitress, before following behind her to a table. She slid into the booth, as I slid into the one across from her.

"Eager to take me on a date, yeah?" I said, smirking lightly.

"Glad to know you wish it was a date" She said, before signaling another waitress to us again.

"I'll take a vodka soda, and she will take a Negroni" She said to the waitress, eyeing me carefully as the woman walked away.

"Wait, if you're my boss, then why were you a bartender that night?" I asked her, as my brows raised in confusion.

"I like to keep myself busy. Thats where I worked at nights, but now i'm all for you" She said, smirking as she looked at the menu. I bit my cheek, looking down at the menu myself.

I played with the shiny gold ring on my finger, contemplating on what I want to eat, until my ear started ringing loudly. I gripped onto the menu for support, scrunching up my face as the ringing slowly came down to nothing. Yet, causing another fucking headache.

I let out a quick breath, opening my eyes to the woman infront of me. Her face was plastered with concern, but something was..off. Her eyes, they flashed red.. for a second. Once she realizes I noticed, they flashed back to their normal color. I furrowed my brows in confusion. How the hell were her eyes just red?

I pushed away the bad feeling in my gut, before speaking up once again.

"Im going to go to the bathroom real quick." I say, pushing out my chair front behind me. I walked away quickly, not waiting for her response.

I walked into the bathroom, before turning on my heel to the sink. I gripped the side of the sink, taking a few deep breaths as I tried to channel my feelings down. My head pounded with pain, as I looked up into the mirror. And for a split second, there he was.

His black suit clasped tightly around his body. His beard and hair was freshly shaved, as his skin was splattered with blood. He had the most fearful look in his eyes, his glossy eyes filled with tears.

Before I knew it, I was on the floor. Sobs left my mouth, as I tried to recover my breathing. My knees were pressed tightly to my chest, my head buried between them, rocking back and forth.

I don't cry, unless it comes to my dad. And when it does, I cant stop the overflowing tears that come with it. Why did he have to die? Why was it him? Why was he the one that got shot?

The thoughts stayed in my mind, as I endlessly searched through my purse for pills. I found the bottle, quickly unscrewing the lid, grabbing a few into my palm. Just as I was about to take them, somebody bursted through the bathroom doors.

her.

She stopped in her tracks as she frantically looked at me in fear. God what did I just do?

Her face coated in a layer of concern, which was covering a layer of fear. She quickly rushed to my side, bringing me into a big hug.

I hesitantly hugged her back, feeling her warm embrace only become tighter as she held me. It was nice. It was refreshing, even. I don't hug people often, and when I do, its usually a side hug that they initiate. But with her, its different. I felt safe. Like I couldn't say whatever I wanted, and she wouldn't mind.

Without realizing it, I silently sobbed into her chest, holding onto her tightly. As if she was going to disappear, just like him.

Her hand gently rubbed up and down my back, soothing some of my nerves. My sobs stopped, yet I was still being held in her arms.

"What happened?" She asks me. I freeze slightly, searching her words for a purpose.

"Nothing, don't worry about it" I mumble, sniffling as I wipe my tears, standing up onto my heels once again.

"No, it's obviously something" She says, watching as I quickly wipe my tears, as if I was avoiding the fact they were real. Avoiding the fact he was really gone.

"Don't worry about it" I say harshly, hoping that my tone would send her the message. She looked at me for a moment, as if she was contemplating her next words.

"Fine, we are leaving then" She says, briskly walking pass me and out of the bathroom.

"Wait, why?" I ask her.

"If you cant tell me whats wrong, we are going home" She says, not even acknowledging that i'm trailing behind her. "I can make you food there, but I need you to be safe"

"I will be, i'm perfectly fine here" I say defensively.

"With what I just saw, its going to take a lot of convincing to let me have you go out again" She says, as she slides into the back of the shiny black Rolls Royce. I quickly slide in with her, putting on my seatbelt as the car takes off once again.

"Fine" I say, crossing my arms as I stare out the window, admiring the beauty of the big city. After a few moments, we were back at my apartment. I got out of the car, my brows raising in confusion as she got out aswell.

"Why aren't you going back to your place"  I ask her curiously.

"Your my client, I can be with you when I want and where I want" She says, walking into the elevator with me still trailing behind her.

We quickly find my apartment, sliding the key in and entering the warm aura. I slide my coat and shoes off near the door, placing my purse on the counter.

"Make yourself at home I guess" I say
