Song Recommendation: Brooklyn Baby - Lana Del Rey

Luna's POV:

I sat in the familiar chair of my office, looking out the huge windows that overlook New York City. It was still dark out, but the city seemed so alive at this time of day. I swiveled my chair around to look at the clock on my desk.

5:48 am

I sighed slightly, realizing I'm here for absolutely no reason, and I definitely shouldn't be here this early, but yet I am.

I left the house just an hour ago, and I mostly left because I wanted to get out of there before Scarlett woke up.

I love her, with everything inside of my heat. But theres still things she doesn't know, and things she doesn't need to know. Once she learns about them, she will start to overthink every little detail about it, and the last thing either of us need is that. Scarlett has had so much happen to her in her life, so much violence and anger, the last thing I want is to bring that all into her life. But, Im a vampire, theres things I do that are violently deadly to humanity.

Hopefully, she will understand where I'm coming from.

A phone ringing pauses the thoughts in my mind. I internally groan as I slide my phone out of my pocket, answering the caller on the other end.

"Hello?" I ask

"Luna, you need to come home. Something happened, it's an emergency." My father speaks through the phone. I can hear his teeth gritting against eachother on the other end as my mother tries to clam him down.

"What happened?" I ask, my heartbeat getting louder and louder as I wait for my father to answer my question.

"I cant say it through the phone, hurry up and get here." He says, and with that he ends the call. I scurry as I grab my car keys, locking my office door behind me as I leave the office building.

I quickly slide into my jet black sports car, starting it as I slam the door shut, eagerly pulling out of the parking slot as I sped my way home.

What could be this urgent, especially this early in the morning?

—————————

"I need every guard on this now!" My father screams into the phone call, his irritated voice echoing through the whole house.

"Honey, let's calm down a bit. Im sure everything will be okay." My mother says, trying my best to assure my father, whose face is burning with anger, his eyes the darkest shade of red.

"No the hell it is not, Diana!" My father yells as I walk through the front door of the house, slowly shutting it behind me.

I walk in to see my family in the kitchen, my dad on the phone with my mom beside him. My grandparents were across the island, chatting amongst themselves. My aunt and uncles were a few steps away from us, whispering about their own conversation.

"Whats going on?" I ask. Suddenly, everyone's head snaps my way.

"It has to do with your sister." My mom says softly. My dad continues to scream into to the phone, as my uncle approaches him.

"What? What the hell happened?" I ask, feeling my heart beat faster and faster, so fast I could hear it pounding in my ears.

"Livia, she was taken last night." My mom speaks, her eyes piercing through mine, a small light glimmering in her eyes, looking like shes on the verge of tears.

"What? Where is she? Who took her?" I ask quickly, my words rambling as I try to steady my heartbeat.

My dad walks over to us, the furious look on his face now even worse, as he slides his phone aggressively into his pocket.

"I think we have a lead on who took her." He says sternly, his eyes meeting mine. And immediately, I knew who he was talking about.

I stood there frozen, my blood running cold at even the thought of them. Me and my family's last encounter with them flashing into my mind.

"You think so?" I ask, the rest of our family standing there, still confused.

"I know so." He says.

I sigh, knowing that theres only one thing we can do to get my sister back.

"Tell them" My father says to me, before he steps out of the room with his phone in his hand.

"Whats going on, Luna?" My grandma asks, as everyone faces towards me, awaiting for me to tell them.

"It's the Hunters. They came back, this time taking Livia." I speak, and under just a few seconds, I see everyones faces fall at the mention if the name.

"Are you sure?" My uncle asks

"Yes, we don't know why, but we will figure it out soon. For now, we need everyone secured in this house. If you leave, take guards with you, we don't know why they are doing this, but they are targeting us." I say sternly.

I feel my phone vibrate in my back pocket. I quickly slide it out, placing it in the palm of my hand as I unlock my phone.

Scarlett

Hey, I woke up alone. Where are you?

I read the text over and over again. Shes probably worried, I never leave when shes sleeping, so she must know something is up.

"I have to go, everyone stay safe and I'll be back soon." I say, before I open the big front door and shut it behind me before I could hear anyone say anything to me.

—————————

I shut my car door behind me as I make my way up to my house.

I unlock the door quickly as I enter my familiar house.

"Scarlett?" I yell, hearing no response.

My heartbeat quickens, as my palms start to sweat.

"Scarlett!" I yell again, louder than the first time. With no reply, I run up the stairs, quickening my pace as I reach the top.

I bust through our bedroom door, before looking around for the girl. The bed was made neatly, the room looked cleaned, less than it was when I left. I look around the room, realizing the bathroom light is on.

I run to the door, opening it quickly. As I barge in, I see the short girl infront of the marble counters.

"Luna?" She says, before turning around to face me. My heart beats in my chest, hearing it in my ears, as my breathing increases.

"Luna are you ok-" Scarlett starts to say, before i wrap my hands around her waist, engulfing her into a giant hug.

Her arms wrap around my neck, going on her tip toes to reach me as I tighten the hug. I nuzzle my face into her shoulder, consuming every part of her I could. A fee moments later, she pulls away.

"Are you okay?" She asks me, worry written all over her face.

"Yes, i'm fine. Are you okay?" I ask the woman.

"Yes, I am okay Luna. Everything is okay." She says, looking into my eyes as she send me a small comforting smile.

I let out a breath I didn't even realize I was holding in.

"Grab a bag, a big one, start packing it with clothes and whatever you need. Im going to go pack myself." I say, as I begin to turn towards the bathroom door, but a hand on my arm stops me.

"Luna, why am I packing? Where are we going?" The brunette woman asks me.

"Its not safe here, we are going to stay at my parents house with the rest of my family. I'll tell you more of the details after we get into the car. Go pack, please." I say, giving her a light kiss on the temple, before walking out of the bathroom.
