Hey y'all! I haven't written much because my life has been pretty busy lol! But I've written two chapters so far and thought i should let y'all read what is so far of the first chapter to see how you all feel about it, give any criticism, and mention things you like and don't like! Obviously don't be too rude, unless you're being funny then attack me as much as you want lol.

I've smashed the first two chapters together and made some changes but I still wanted to keep the beginning pretty close to the original because that just feels right to me, but that may or may change based off of feedback and the way the writing and planning continues on!

Anyways, no more rambling! Here is the first chapter draft! >:D

Chapter One.

Flagler Beach, Florida. 13/2/22. Sunday

Searing sunbeams, they look so beautiful but blind you when they ingulf your body but you still can't help but feel the beauty that the hold even while it surrounds you and grips your body tight. Sun beams streamed along down the hall as quiet steps danced around them. Darryl didn't care for the illuminance beams as he marched down the hall, fidgeting with the large cross that hang across his neck.

The cramped hall turned into a large room filled with rows and rows of pews, tables, and a little stage but despite the change of scenery the sunbeams stilled filled the church. "You're late." The booming voiced echoed and rang against Darryl's ears, followed by a piercing stare of almost black brown eyes that threatened to peel away Darryl's skin if he even peered into them wrong, "I'm sorry sir." Darryl tugged his cross as he travelled closer until he was face to face with the much larger man and the back of a trembling woman, Darryl's father ticked his tongue and lifted his crooked finger to the large pair of doors that felt like they were standing before the doors of a dungeon. Darryl followed his father's orders, opening the heavy doors as they screamed out as if they were in pain. The young boy stood aside as a handful of people gathered into the decrepit building. Many took their seats in any number of the pews laid before them or stayed to talk to Darryl's parents.

Darryl was used to the routine, every Sunday opening up these doors to the same faces to hear the word of God, he knew them all but at the same time didn't know a thing about them, perhaps that was for the best, Darryl wouldn't want anyone getting in the way of his journey to becoming the righteous man he was destined to be.

Just as the last few people drizzled in Darryl prepared himself to close the doors before a small group waltzed their way in, not just any group, Darryl didn't know these people; how unusual. An older man much taller than Darryl knew a human could be, a woman similar to his height and two older kids, a boy and a girl. Darryl tried to pull away his gaze away from the family but could not help but keep looking back every few seconds; something about them was intriguing to him.

"Michael!" Darryl jumped at the shout and looked over to see the very tall man holding out his arms to hug his father which was precipitated by an awkward chuckle and a handshake. Darryl closed the doors but continued to keep an eye and ear out for the scene ahead of him. As he closed them, he caught his father motioning for his presence. The young boy dusted off his shirt as we walked towards the tiny crowd, standing beside his father as he studied the family. Who Darryl could only presume was the father of this group looked down at him with a warm gaze and a gentle smile, "You must be Darryl, its good to finally meet you." He grinned as Darryl simply smiled politely back in response, not sure what to do in this certain reaction as he stared back down at his shoes.

Darryl felt an unnerving feeling tearing itself into his head, flickering his eyes up to see a young teen boy, his age, starring at him. A stinging sensation spread across Darryl's cheeks as he starred back, perplexed at the other boy and in return all he did was smile. "Well, I will be starting soon so you should find yourselves a seat." Michael suggested, tapping Darryl's shoulder to tell him to do the same. The teen departed, finding a small spot that was unbothered but still not far from the front to hear his father.
