21/2/19POV: Third person
Darryl knocked on the door again, waiting nervously as he got no reaction.
'I'm not going to let him persuade me about anything, I'm not going to let him do anything that I haven't done before. I am here to teach him and nothing el-'
Darryl was brought back to reality when the front door swung open. Darryl was face to face with a much older man with beautiful brown skin. "Oh you must be Darryl! We've never properly met before! I'm Zak's father." Darryl not knowing what to do hesitantly put his hand forward for a handshake and simply muttered 'hi' to the taller man before him.
"Come in come in!" Zak's father motioned to enter after firmly shaking Darryl's hand.
"Thank you Mr." Darryl said after trailing along Zak's father. The older man chuckled as he sat down, crossing his legs."Please, call me Zane." Darryl was very visibly shocked, no adult has asked for him to call them by their first name and even if they did father would never allow it. "O-okay."
"Zak! Darryl's here!" Zane yelled out. No response was given. Zane just shrugged and turned back to Darryl. "He just got back from school so he's probably prettying himself up."
'Prettying? This family is so strange. Especially Zak, mainly Zak."
They waited seven minutes, but Zak never came out. Zane was a very visibly impatient man, he was constantly fiddling and it got worse the more he had to wait. Before Darryl knew it Zane got up and motioned with his hand for Darryl to follow.
They made it to Zak's room and music was being blasted inside the room but Darryl couldn't make out a single word, he could only hear the beat. Zane banged on his sons door and it almost immediately was pulled back by it's owner.
"What do I owe the pleasure of- oh hello there Darryl!" Zak took a few seconds to notice Darryl but when he did all of Zak's attention was on the poor boy. "I'll leave you two to it then. Have fun!" Zak waved his father goodbye and pulled Darryl into his room much like the last time he was here. "So let's get started, shall we?" Both Zak and Darryl sat down at his desk, now with two desk chairs. Usually by now Darryl would have pulled out his folders and his books but he was a little, too distracted.
"You're wearing earrings." Zak looks up to Darryl from his phone. "Yeah, I know." Zak chuckled slightly at Darryl's puzzled face. Darryl was so confused by the man before him. "But, that's for women. You can't be wearing them." Zak stared right into Darryl's eyes, causing the other to tear his gaze away from the dangling earrings and into his eyes.
"And what makes them for women?" Darryl looked away from Zak and fiddled with his fingers, realising he never really knew the reason. That's just kinda what he's been taught, "I...I don't know, that's just how it is..." Darryl pondered off. The shorter boy took notice and playfully punched Darryl's arm. "Just because I'm a guy doesn't mean I can't wear earrings, I mean their really fun to shake!" Zak shook his head, making the fake mushroom earrings twirl all over the place, Darryl just watched on, the concept of this was just fascinating to him.'Wait, I'm letting him put ideas in my head. I shouldn't trust him, I shouldn't trust what he says.'
...
'He has a point though.'
The other stopped shaking their head and stared at Darryl carefully for his next words.
"I, I suppose you are correct." Zak lit up and shook his hands with excitement, his plan of turning this drab strict boy into someone like him was gonna be easier then he thought."Yay! Now, what are we gonna do today?" Darryl simply pulled out four pieces of paper and placed it on the desk in front of Zak. "Learn about respect, let's start with adults." Darryl plainly explained. The younger of the two gasped in shock, making Darryl face him. "This sounds so scary! Will you hold my hand?" Darryl eyes opened wide and his face became red as an apple. He looked away from Zak and tried focusing on anything but him.
