POV: Third person

Darryl sat on his bed, cross legged and flipping another page of his book. It wasn't a very interesting book and although it was about his lord it didn't interest him much, but he continued reading as there was nothing better to do during this time of night.

Despite the fact it was 11:31 pm, a gentle tapping coming from the window alerted Darryl. Steadily walking towards his window and opening the curtains, he couldn't see much and decided to open to window itself.

Once he opened it up, he noticed a pair of tiny hands and those familiar chocolate eyes looking up at him, Darryl looked down to see Zak smiling up at him.

"hi." Zak chirped happily at the boy above him, smiling so much his eyes were nearly closed shut, if Darryl wasn't so angry and confused he would've thought it was absolutely adorable. "Zak! What are you doing here!?" Darryl whisper yelled, trying to show his anger but be as quiet as he could in attempt to not wake his parents.

"Well, ya' see. I was having a midnight stroll and I came across your church and thought I'd pay a visit!" Darryl slid his face into his hands as he rested his elbows on the window sill. The older teen covered his face in annoyance, "I could've been asleep, you know?" Darryl sounded muffled but Zak could tell he was annoyed through it all. "Hmm, well you aren't so..." The small teen smirked and was met with an eye roll. "So," Zak started, getting up on his tipie toes to be more visible, "You wanna join me?"

The brunettes face turned from annoyed to extremely confused in a matter of pure seconds. "I- what?! Why would you think I would join you!? I- I- I'd get in so much trouble!" Zak simply shrugged and looked back at Darryl, still waiting for a yes or no.

Darryl sighed, Zak wasn't going to give up that easily.

'Well, I mean, it wouldn't be that bad, right? If we don't get caught, it should be fine. Plus, kinda want to get back at father because he hasn't been very nice to Zak.'

Zak watched Darryl thought about it, his facial expressions changing as he thought and making small little noises subconsciously the deeper in thought he went, to Zak it was the cutest thing ever.

Moments later Darryl sighed heavily, pinching the bridge of his nose and shutting his eyes. "Fine." He sounded very defeated, and it's because he was. The raven haired boy did a small little dance in excitement, making Darryl's frown into a smile. "Let me get dressed and we can go, you muffin." Darryl smirked softly down at Zak as he closed his window and curtains, quickly throwing on some jeans and Zak's hoodie.

Once he opened his window back up, Zak giddily held out his hand to help Darryl down onto the ground. He gripped his friends hand tightly and didn't let go once he was out of the house, he was scared and holding Zak's hand was helping to ground him. They very quietly placed their feet onto the ground slowly, trying to make as little sound as possible on the grass.

Once they had made it to the path way, they fastened their pace to a normal walk. Darryl was shaking in fear, despite being completely gone by now this was still a scary thing and a million thoughts were racing through his head. "Hey," Zak squeezed Darryl's hand comfortingly as he looked up at him, "It's okay, there's nothing to worry about. I'm here and if anything happens I'll save you like the hero I am!" Darryl chuckled slightly at Zak's bravery. "I'm pretty sure I'd have to save you, little man." Zak gasped dramatically, half fake half actually offended, "How dare you!? I am very strong for my size thank you!" The raven haired boy stuck his tongue out, scrunching his nose and eyes. The emerald eyed teen playfully rolled his eyes and nudged Zak's shoulder. "Anyone could pick you up and just throw you? Y'know that right?"
