The car shook violently due to the storm raging inside.

Taehyung tackled the boy before he could throw anything else out of the car. He couldn't comprehend why Jungkook was acting this way over a mere plushie. It was seriously testing his patience. Taehyung didn’t know what he’d do if Jungkook didn’t stop pushing his buttons.

"Give me my Bun Bun back! How dare you throw him away? Do you even understand how sensitive he is?" he yelled angrily.

"Jungkook, calm down. I’ll buy you another one."

"Oh my stars, are you even hearing yourself? You want me to betray Bun Bun like that? Shame on you, Mr. Criminal! Shame on you!"

Jungkook shook his head, a disgusted look plastered on his face, only provoking Taehyung further.

"I want Bun Bun back, right now!"

"Stop yelling! Can’t you grasp that? Always talking nonsense. What is it with that plushie that’s got you acting this way?"

"That’s why mama said never trust bad boys—they’re all meanie. You’re no different. I’m not staying with you anymore!" with a angry frown,

Jungkook abruptly climbed out of the car and sat down on the road in front of it.

"What the hell? Why are you sitting there?”

Taehyung stared at him, dumbfounded. What a brat he was dealing with. Jungkook didn’t respond, merely turning his face to the side, a sulky frown creasing his bright forehead.

"Get up. Your tantrum isn’t going to work on me, Jungkook. Get up, right now."

"I need my Bun Bun," he murmured, turning away again as Taehyung now stood directly in front of him.

"And you seriously think I’m going back there for a plushie?" Taehyung’s sarcasm only fanned the flames of Jungkook’s simmering anger.

"Stop calling him a plushie. He has a name."

"Whatever. Now get up. I’ll buy you another one."

"I’m loyal to Bun Bun. I only want him," Jungkook pouted, his crimson lips redder from constant biting.

"Don’t be childish, Jungkook. I’m not getting it back," Taehyung said, but the next thing Jungkook did made him regret every decision that led him to this moment. The boy lay down on the road, legs dangling in the air, refusing to budge.

I’m not getting up until you promise to go back and get my Bun Bun.”

Jungkook’s words made Taehyung close his eyes in frustration. He thought for a few moments, then nodded to himself.

"Fine, I’ll get your Bun Bun back, but not now. It’s impossible. I’m sure the police are involved by now. We need to get you somewhere safe first."

"Promise?" Jungkook looked up at him with hopeful puppy eyes, stirring something in Taehyung’s chest. Promise? Had he ever kept a promise before? Had anyone ever trusted him enough to ask for one? He didn’t remember—and wasn’t sure he wanted to.

"Yes, I promise," Taehyung said, his throat dry, the words feeling foreign, like they were escaping his lips for the first time.

"What if you break my promise? I won’t let you get away with it," Jungkook muttered, gritting his teeth, his adorable angry face only adding to the threat.

"And what would you do?"

"I’ll bite you. This time, not through clothes—without them."

Jungkook struck a playful tiger pose, but Taehyung nearly choked at his words. Before his mind could wander, he swiftly grabbed the boy and threw him over his shoulder.

"I don’t want to sit here," Jungkook complained, draped across Taehyung’s back.

"Want to sit in the back seat?" Taehyung asked.

"No, on your lap. I can’t sit by myself—I need something to hug. Since I don’t have Bun Bun here, you’ll have to be his substitute until you bring him back to me."

"Isn’t that cheating on your Bun Bun?"

"Nope, we have a great understanding. I’ll explain everything to him. Besides, you’re human, not like him. You’re different."

When did that silly smile find its way onto Taehyung’s lips? He couldn’t remember, but with a shrug, he sat in the driver’s seat, Jungkook perched sideways on his lap.

"You look good when you smile, Mr. Criminal," Jungkook remarked.

"Stop calling me that. I have a name—call me Taehyung, or hyung."

"But I like it. Mr. Criminal suits you," Jungkook replied, resting his head against Taehyung’s chest, making his heart race.

"Your heartbeat’s trying to win a marathon, Mr. Criminal," Jungkook mumbled, and Taehyung quickly started the car, attempting to distract himself from the fluttering in his chest.
