Chapter 10: Weak Pride

Seeing the Devil of Self-Pity possessing Basen rushing towards him. Cale Henituse raises his arms wide and says.

" Basen. "

The devil of self-pity stopped from rushing. It was only a few inches away from Cale. With a sneer on its face, it says.

" Why are you opposing me? You're brother is gone. Shouldn't you be glad that he disappeared? Intruding your imperfect life and making it worse. Shouldn't you thank me?  "

Instead of answering it, Cale questioned.

" Is that how Basen feels? Does he feel that he doesn't belong?  "

The devil of self-pity didn't answer and was silent. Taking it as a yes to his inquiry, Cale then says.

" Basen, you're a fool. Did you already forget what I said? Didn't you not etched it in your mind? The words that I have said once to you before? You are a part of Henituse Household, Basen Henituse– "

" Silence! I don't want to hear your words! "

The Devil of Self-Pity interrupted Cale with an angry shout. The Devil was even planning on hitting Cale with Basen's hand but stopped and staggered at the last moment.

" Your brother is gone! Your words are useless! "

The Demon's words sounded so desperate. As if it was lying and convincing itself. Looking at the Demon wearing Basen's face. Cale knows that Basen is still there.

" If Basen is gone. Prove it to me, Basen. "

Cale says with his arms remaining wide open and has no intention of attacking his possessed brother.

Gritting Basen's teeth, the devil of pity glared at Cale and prepared to punch Cale in his face but once again stopped. Basen's first only a few centimeters from punching Cale's chin.

" Why?! "

The devil of pity shouted. Angrier than before.

" Why can't I?! I should have control of this brat's body. "

Cale can feel a slight smile forming on his face. Basen was still indeed there. While Cale was secretly glad that his little brother was still there, the Demon was gnashing its teeth. A demanding and frustrating tone leaves its mouth. Forming new words out of it.

" Why is he fighting back?! "

Within a few instants, the happy occasion regarding Basen's presence and recovery disappeared on Cale when the Demon of Self-Pity turned his accusing gaze to Cale.

" YOU!! It's your fault pesky human!"

With Basen's dark brown eyes glowing, and its right hand stretching out.  Cale was surprised when he suddenly found himself levitating from the air.

" Cale! " " Young Master! "

Worried shouts came from Deruth and Hans who was beside Ron who was tending to the injured Gavin.

With his feet leaving the ground, and floating in the air, Cale confidence and calmness turned to worry. The Demon was glancing at Cale with maliciousness.

" How dare you, Human! How dare all of you!! Especially you! I should teach you a lesson."

Before Cale could worry about his body parts being twisted by the Demon like Gavin and thrown around as the Demon saw fit, he heard the voice of the fourth prince behind him a few distance.

" It's done. "

With those words, The Demon's expression parted into surprise before Basen's eyes stopped glowing and collapsed to the ground. Along with those,  Cale feels himself falling to the ground. With his back and butt hitting the floor, Cale wince in pain.

Under Cale's intense glare directed at Allen while the Count's son was rubbing his butt, Allen says.

" Thank you for the useful distraction. "

Scowling, Cale replied.

" Fourth Prince should have informed so that I could land prepared. "

" Then, it would also gain the Demon's attention. It was better to leave you uninformed and the demon being distracted and caught off guard. "

Reluctantly, Cale agreed that Allen was indeed right. Picking himself up on the floor, Cale started patting his clothes off dust. Glancing, he saw his father glancing anxiously towards Basen and Cale.

Seeing the Count fretting with worry, Allen nodded his head.

" I already sealed the mirror. Your son isn't possessed anymore Count Deruth. He is already safe. "

With a grateful glance,  Deruth made his way to the unconscious Basin with Hans following behind him. Picking Basen off the floor with Hans's help, Deruth hugged the unconscious Basen. Deruth was relieved that Basen was alive. There were slight tears on the edge of his eyes. With a shaky smile, he muttered.

" Basen's room should be clean and repaired when he regains consciousness. It would upset him if he saw the state of his room. "

While Deruth was thinking along with those thoughts, Allen made his way to Gavin who was being tended by Ron. Seeing the fourth prince approaching him, the old butler/assassin informed the fourth prince regarding the status of his servant.

" Fourth Prince, he is in a severe condition.  "

With those words, Allen can feel himself twinge in guilt. But he didn't let those thoughts consume his mind and throw it away in the present.  He would deal with it later. For now, it was important to save Gavin's life and erase his pain. He doesn't have time for Self-Pity and Wallowing.

Removing his pair of gloves on his hands one was splattered with crimson while the other was clean, he placed it on his storage ring. He then intruded on Ron's space who was tending to the unconscious Gavin.

" Let me take care of Gavin. "

Allen says to the old butler while he crouches and places both of his hands above Gavin's twisted and tangled legs. He then sang a verse of a song inside his mind.

[ A song for the sun, a song for the rain,
A gentle requiem.. ]

The others who were glancing at the 4th prince were surprised when they saw his hands glow with a gentle and warm white light. Most of them didn't expect the 4th prince to be a mage except Cale due to his encounter with the 4th prince earlier.

Beneath Allen's glowing hand, the twisted legs started to mend themselves until Gavin's leg was restored to what it was before in a few seconds.

" The Blessings of the Sun God are a miracle. "

On the comment of Count Deruth's appreciation of Allen's healing magic, he remained silent.

He was indeed blessed by a Sun God. But it wasn't the Sun God that the Count was expecting.

As for the Royal Family, Allen doesn't think that he needs to reveal the information of the Royal Family lacking any blessings from this local world's Sun God.
